Job Description

Team: Project Management

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives based in United States.

This is a high-impact executive-level role supporting the CEO and senior leadership team in shaping and executing the organization’s most critical priorities. You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, translating complex organizational challenges into clear, actionable workstreams. The role combines analytical rigor with hands-on leadership, requiring someone who can both design strategic direction and drive day-to-day execution. You will lead cross-functional initiatives spanning organizational growth, partnerships, and internal transformation efforts. Working closely with senior leaders, you will help structure decision-making, accelerate execution, and ensure alignment across key priorities. This is a highly visible position in a mission-driven environment where clarity, speed, and judgment directly influence organizational impact.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, translating high-level priorities into structured workplans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop executive-level materials including presentations, strategy documents, analyses, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Lead and execute high-priority cross-functional initiatives that span multiple teams and do not fall within a single organizational function.
  • Drive execution of the strategic plan by coordinating priorities, tracking milestones, and ensuring accountability across workstreams.
  • Support business development, partnerships, and growth initiatives by managing coordination, tracking commitments, and ensuring follow-through.
  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and operational constraints, proactively surfacing issues and proposing solutions to maintain execution momentum.
  • Build and improve operating rhythms, systems, and processes that enhance visibility, alignment, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Requirements:

    • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, business operations, or other fast-paced, analytical, and execution-oriented environments.
    • Strong preference for experience in top-tier consulting or similarly rigorous strategy roles.
    • Proven ability to move seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, delivering measurable outcomes.
    • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through implementation.
    • Exceptional executive communication skills, including creation of high-quality presentations, memos, and decision-support materials.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to synthesize complex information into clear insights.
    • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive execution without formal authority.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with experience managing multiple competing priorities.
    • High comfort level working in ambiguity and rapidly evolving environments.
    • Experience designing systems, processes, or operating mechanisms that improve organizational execution and transparency.
    • Familiarity with AI tools to support research, analysis, synthesis, and productivity.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with senior executive-level scope and experience.
      • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare coverage and wellness support.
      • Remote work arrangement with Eastern Time Zone alignment.
      • Limited travel requirements, enabling flexibility and work-life balance.
      • Opportunity to directly influence organizational strategy and mission impact.
      • High-visibility role working closely with executive leadership.
      • Dynamic, mission-driven environment focused on education transformation and systemic change.
