This strategic leadership role focuses on shaping and executing clinical and commercial strategies across medical drug management programs within a dynamic pharmacy benefit management environment.
You will oversee the development of innovative clinical solutions across therapeutic categories, ensuring alignment between medical policy, utilization management, and cost-effectiveness objectives.
The role plays a key part in driving outcomes across pharmacy and medical benefits by integrating data insights, clinical expertise, and market intelligence.
You will act as a central subject matter expert, guiding internal teams and external stakeholders on medical drug strategy, competitive positioning, and program optimization.
This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration to influence product development, client engagement, and clinical program execution at scale.
It is a highly visible role combining clinical knowledge, strategic thinking, and leadership in a fast-evolving healthcare landscape.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the overall clinical strategy and implementation of MedDrive programs, including medical drug policy, utilization management, and specialty programs
  • Develop and execute clinical and business solutions across therapeutic categories, ensuring strong outcomes tracking and performance monitoring
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for medical drug management strategies and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain competitive intelligence on best-in-class medical drug management approaches and emerging market trends
  • Partner with Health Outcomes and Analytics teams to monitor trends, utilization, net cost, rebates, and savings performance
  • Collaborate with Client Engagement teams to translate clinical strategies into client-facing solutions and recommendations
  • Work with Pharmaceutical Trade Relations to support manufacturer contracting strategies and program performance initiatives
  • Support Clinical Program Development, including formulary decisions, UM policies, pipeline evaluation, and P&T committee activities
  • Partner with Network Management to optimize therapeutic category performance and program execution
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of MedDrive product collateral and supporting materials
  • Requirements:

    • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with an active, unrestricted pharmacist license
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare, managed care, PBM, or specialty pharmacy environments
    • Strong understanding of medical drug management, utilization management, and pharmacy benefit strategies
    • Experience in developing clinical or commercial healthcare solutions is highly preferred
    • Strong ability to analyze complex clinical and financial data and translate insights into actionable strategies
    • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships across multiple organizational levels
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution
    • Experience in health plan or PBM environments is a strong plus
    • Familiarity with therapeutic category strategy, formulary management, or clinical program development is preferred
