The Member Partnership team is responsible for fostering the overall business and strategic relationship with NPR’s network of 250 local journalism organizations, content creators and radio stations. The team works with all divisions at NPR to develop strategies, operationalize solutions, and communicate best practices for serving the audience and increasing sustainability for public media.

Reporting to the Director of Network Impact, the Network Content Strategy Manager is primarily responsible for planning, writing, and distributing a range of daily communications for Member Partnership and other NPR teams that work directly with the NPR station network.  The Network Content Strategy Manager develops content for multiple platforms, across a wide range of operational, strategic, and marketing communications needs.  Through their work, they provide leadership and coordination to elevate knowledge, engagement, best practices, and impact across the key strategic initiatives of NPR’s Member network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead  daily communications planning and draft language for NPR internal divisions, advising on messaging, platform and audience.
  • Develop cohesive, organization-wide tone/voice and discipline across Member Partnership platforms, including email, Studio, and social media.
  • Coordinate, compile, and distribute flagship weekly newsletters to Member station staff with current information on topics related to content, digital tools and solutions, marketing and promotions, audience development, and core strategic initiatives of the NPR Network.
  • Manage and support communications calendar for the Member Partnership team to ensure consistent messaging and support across station-facing platforms, including NPR Studio in Salesforce, Slack, Facebook, Twitter, and more.
  • Coordinate and support daily Member Partnership communications needs regarding program and product alerts, status reports, and other timely advisories.
  • Support the Director of Network Impact, SVP Member Partnership, and other Member Partnership leaders with strategic communications needs, including presentations and reports for Board meetings, the Joint NPR Network Leadership Team, Network advisory groups, the annual Fee Renewal process, the NPR Annual Membership Meeting, NPR orientation for new Members, NPR staff orientation, and industry conferences.
  • Lead station webinar, office hours, and advisory group planning, production and coordination across internal divisions
  • Develop actionable metrics and dashboards to measure Member station participation, engagement, impact, and satisfaction.
  • Work with colleagues in Member Partnership, News, and Programming to design and present marketing communications materials for NPR’s suite of Member benefits and content offerings.
  • Work across multiple divisions to support communications planning and execution for special Network projects like the Tiny Desk Contest, Student Podcast Challenge, and more.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to manage NPR’s intranet for Members, and its evolution to NPR Studio. 
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field, or equivalent experience.

WORK LOCATION: 

This is a remote- permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in a communications and/or writing-centered role.
  • Outstanding organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills, including proof-reading skills.
  • Outstanding collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and gain the respect and support of internal and external partners.
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership for tasks and deadlines, and to use initiative and creativity.
  • Commitment to a high level of customer service responsiveness and excellence.
  • Ability to thrive in a complex environment that requires creativity, improvisation, flexibility, change management, and a sense of humor and perspective.  
  • Our ideal candidate brings a high level of empathy, social skills, and cultural competencies to their work and their interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficiency with the Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Office 365 tools, Google Suite and project management tools/platforms like Air Table and Asana.

JOB TYPE

  • This is a full time, exempt position.

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: The U.S.-based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $79,000-$90,000, plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
