A Little Bit About Us
The Yahoo Paranoids' (cyber security team) mission is to protect and defend Yahoo, its 900 million users and their data, the enterprise, and its brands. As a Business Information Security Officer (BISO), you will be responsible for "connecting the dots" between different Business Units (such as Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Sports) and the Paranoids. You will advocate on behalf of both to ensure there is alignment across strategy and objectives. You will not only act as a liaison between the Business Units and the Paranoids, but you will also be responsible for developing the long term cybersecurity strategy for that Business Unit. You will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer and be a trusted advisor to the General Manager of the Business Unit. We are looking for a business-centric, cyber security professional with a background in understanding how to accelerate business goals and objectives while simultaneously reducing cyber risks as much as possible.

• Excellent understanding of Risk and how to best illustrate and communicate risk tolerance and treatment.
• A bias for action to ensure cyber risks and threats are both identified, analyzed, and then properly treated.
• A desire to educate and train both the business community and the Paranoids using analytics, metrics, and custom materials.
• Ability to digest a variety of "inputs" such as business decisions, cyber policies, global regulations, risk tolerance thresholds, etc... and prioritize which is most time sensitive and critical.
• Strong understanding of budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and vendor relations.

What a typical day looks like for a BISO:

• Being a liaison between the Paranoids and the Yahoo Business Units.
• Engaging with the CISO and Business GM on appropriate cyber and business topics, and recognizing which topics should be prioritized.
• Attending, participating, and offering advisory support during relevant meetings where cybersecurity and business planning are taking place.
• Developing and executing against an engagement model that ensures cyber and business requirements are properly captured, addressed, and reported on.
• Properly navigating organizational charts and relationships to ensure the right channels are used for assigning and escalating work.
• Creating operational and forward-looking plans to deliver against requirements and milestones.
• When necessary, become a project manager to ensure initiatives are implemented.
• Developing executive level reporting and status updates.
• Facilitating security and business meetings to address outstanding issues.
• Being a student and learning about the relevant business and cyber security areas in need of your attention.

Job Requirements:

• Either previous experience as a BISO or holding a role that required regular interaction between executives across the business and cyber security.
• 10 years of management or leadership experience across technical areas and teams such as Cloud, Engineering, Cyber, etc...
• Experience with product management and development, and an understanding of the product life cycle.
• Experience working with financial transactions (Business to Consumer).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Bonus Points For:

• MBA or MS in Engineering or Cyber Security or another relevant technical field.
• Experience around all financial transactions: credit, bank transfers, mobile payments, securities, crypto, etc...
• Experience in the product and/or media industries.
• Experience with financial services or fintech.
• Experience with online sports media and entertainment.
• Experience with global customers.
