Performance Engineer

MetroStar Systems is looking for dynamic and creative Performance Engineer to join our world-class engineering team at US Census and do great things with their data. As a Performance Engineer, you will collaborate with solution architects, front-/back-end developers, and product owners to influence product direction and functional requirements, and deliver complex search queries, and APIs. You’ll love our position if you have… (This is the stuff you MUST have to be a fit)

• BS with 7+ years of technical experience
• 4+ years of experience with Java / Java Web Services RESTful (primary), WSDL, XML and supporting integration
• 2+ years of experience using API performance and load testing tools such as HP ALM / JMeter / LoadUI
• a working knowledge using Java Profilers such as VisualVM / NetBeans / YourKit
• experience in Linux and bash or shell scripting
• the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

We’ll REALLY love you if you… (This is the bonus stuff that makes you stand out)

• have 1+ year of experience with search-specific applications using Elasticsearch, tuning / optimizing large-scale Elasticsearch clusters
• have strong experience in performance testing web services in enterprise-scale system
• are familiar with Continuous Integration methodologies and tools, including Jenkins
• are familiar with source control services and tools, including SVN, GIT and AWS CodeCommit

What your day will look like:

• You will run load and performance tests to design, implement, and deploy engineering fixes and strategies to optimize and tune applications to handle large, enterprise-scale user demands
• You will design and develop software based on business and functional requirements in a Scaled Agile framework (SAFe)
• You will participate in go/no-go discussions in a rapid, iterative environment
