Platform Architect

We’re looking for an amazing Platform Architect to join our team, where we design, architect, and develop our enterprise wide business systems infrastructure. We run the systems that encompass the entire buyer’s journey from initial lead through marketing, sales, renewal, accounting, customer success and advocacy using tools including Marketo, Salesforce, NetSuite, Workato and Zendesk. You will have opportunities to solve business problems and implement them in Salesforce and its peripheral ecosystems. This role is supported by the Director, Go-to-Market Business Systems.

This position is a critical part of Fastly’s Systems growth. Key responsibilities include leading our efforts to transform & streamline Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash processes and further improving our CPQ implementation, downstream system integrations, service delivery and tracking, and developing solutions to improve and optimize our business processes. You will be empowered to develop new ideas, find new capabilities, and drive their implementation and integration inside Fastly.

What You'll Do

  • Coach and mentor team members, conduct peer reviews and uphold continuous improvement efforts
  • Drive technical design and development for major components of our platform
  • Transform business needs into actionable requirements and functionality
  • Design data models, user interfaces, business logic and security for custom applications
  • Own performance and scalability of our system, connected applications, instruments, and equipment
  • Simplify, improve, and modernize existing features and other areas that need optimization
  • Collaborate with engineering and other internal teams on prototype development
  • Collect and interpret analytical and performance data into actionable items
  • Lead technical requirements gathering and/or design workshops for complex projects
  • Build and maintain Architecture Standards and best practices 
  • Create and maintain cross-platform automation  
  • Scope architectural assessments, level of effort and potential options for delivery of functionality
  • Communicate solution designs clearly in multiple modes of communication – diagrams, documents, verbally
  • Act as enterprise architect for cross-platform strategic initiatives owning the architectural design, system integrations, data flow, environment management, deployment Plan, and E2E test cases

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years experience as a Salesforce Architect or similar role and equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Apex, LWC, Visualforce, HTML/CSS and TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Demonstrable understanding of technology architecture, API’s, and integration standards 
  • Experience with complex data structures; data manipulation, cleaning, and de-duplication; database design concepts; data migration and data integration
  • Ability to work with non-technical partners across the company
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to mentor, coach and influence people on the team and in the company 
  • Technical, systems, and business process acumen
  • Strong problem solving skills (critical, strategic and evaluative thinking)
  • Proficient in developing comprehensive solution design documents, application architecture, integration architecture, and deployment documentation
  • Good understanding/proficiency with TDD, BDD and other agile development practices 
  • Experience working with a distributed team across time zones preferred
  • Ability to manage timelines, communicate delays, and clarify ambiguous requirements
  • Outstanding communicator, solid attention to detail and interpersonal skills

 We value a variety of voices, so this is not a laundry list. It would be an added bonus if you have experience in ANY of these:

  • Experience with agile development (Scrum, Kanban, Mob Programming, etc)
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles and Clean Architecture
  • Experience working with Salesforce CPQ (Steelbrick) and other business apps
  • Comfort with Whiteboarding and/or ‘Wireframe’ solutioning
  • Prior experience in a SaaS or usage/consumption-based business 
  • Solid grasp of B2B Lead-to-Quote, Quote-to-Cash, customer support, and professional services processes and how these processes are run in a Salesforce-centric ecosystem
  • Well-versed with any or all of the following: Aura, Lightning Design System, Salesforce DX, Salesforce DevOps tools, React, Vue apps, Workato 
  • 5-7 years experience working with Sales, Deal Desk, or Legal Operations preferred
  • Certified with Salesforce with Platform Developer II or above certification, CPQ Specialist, and/or Salesforce community involvement

In accordance with applicable law, Fastly’s minimum base pay for this role if hired in Colorado is $147,000 per year. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Fastly's equity plan. Final offer amount will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of experience and expertise, location and other business considerations. Note that this role is available to candidates outside of Colorado and different minimum compensation may apply.
