Team: Account Executive

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Portfolio Lead, Client Engagement (Med Comms) based in Canada.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced client services leader to oversee a high-value portfolio of medical communications programs within the life sciences industry. You will drive strategic client partnerships, portfolio performance, and operational excellence while collaborating closely with scientific and cross-functional leaders. The role combines executive-level relationship management, financial oversight, and team leadership to deliver impactful Medical Affairs and publications initiatives. You will play a critical role in shaping long-term client success, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring consistent delivery across multiple accounts. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will have the autonomy to influence portfolio strategy while mentoring high-performing teams and contributing to business growth.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead a multi-account client portfolio with responsibility for overall client satisfaction, operational performance, financial results, and delivery excellence.
  • Establish consistent portfolio-wide processes and best practices that promote predictable execution and an exceptional client experience.
  • Partner closely with scientific leadership to align client strategies, resource planning, delivery priorities, and portfolio objectives.
  • Collaborate with project management, scientific, creative, finance, and operational teams to ensure effective coordination across accounts.
  • Monitor portfolio health by communicating key performance metrics, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Lead portfolio-level account planning, forecasting, and performance reviews while identifying opportunities for organic account growth.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, serving as a strategic advisor throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Participate in executive client meetings, business reviews, and issue resolution, proactively managing escalations and protecting long-term partnerships.
  • Oversee portfolio forecasting, revenue delivery, and financial performance while partnering with finance teams to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Coach, mentor, and support Client Engagement leaders by promoting collaboration, resource optimization, professional development, and high-performance team culture.
  • Support selected business development initiatives, account expansions, and strategic growth opportunities as business needs evolve.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field; an advanced degree is considered an asset.
    • 10+ years of experience in client services, medical communications, healthcare communications, or a related agency environment.
    • Proven experience leading complex, multi-account client portfolios and managing executive-level client relationships.
    • Demonstrated financial leadership with experience in portfolio forecasting, revenue management, and commercial performance.
    • Strong understanding of the life sciences, Medical Affairs, publications, and medical communications landscape.
    • Experience leading, coaching, and developing senior client engagement professionals.
    • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
    • Strong strategic planning, organizational, and operational leadership capabilities.
    • Ability to influence cross-functional teams within a highly matrixed organization.
    • Excellent judgment, problem-solving, risk management, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and competing business demands.
