Principal Data Analyst (Remote - Nationwide)

Position Summary:
Works with clients and engineering teams to build new and innovative products for our data teams.
Ensures solutions work across teams by reviewing proposed solutions against the business need to identify potential problem areas and propose mitigating solutions. Provides improved data insights that will guide strategies and help achieve business goals. Impacts business change through data insights.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to discover business issues and discuss potential solutions to meet need. Develops prototypes when appropriate.
  • Assists in evaluation and gap analysis of our data environments while focusing on Supportability, Compliance and best usage of data.
  • Interviews subject matter experts, customers, and other partners to identify and clarify requirements.
  • Works with clients to answer questions and understand issues, ensuring that business rules meet product needs.
  • Ensures clear definition of all enhancements and bugs, translating them to requirements, use cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Guides teams to break down work into specifications and user stories.
  • Validates that solutions accomplish the business need.
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of the product and underlying models/methods, and be knowledgeable on related cutting-edge methods, tools and technologies.
  • Researches and analyzes problems, identifies root cause, and recommends solutions.
  • Investigates, resolves, and escalates problems to appropriate parties.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across teams.
  • Breaks down high level requirements into executable specifications.
  • Defines functional requirements for complex cross-team backend systems.
  • Leverage logic flow, decision trees, data flow, swim lanes, and other analytical methodologies to visualize complex requirements.
  • Yields excellence, best practices, and methodology improvements.
  • Trains, mentors, and supports junior team members.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 8+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data
  • General understanding of modern data processing and persistence technologies
  • Highly skilled at abstract thinking with the ability to conceptualize data models from system implementations
  • Proven ability to elicit and anticipate business data requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to write and debug complex SQL (join, aggregate, filter) to analyze relational data
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and modeling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to guide through influence and be open, trusted and collaborative with partners
  • Skilled at creating detailed technical documentation, including interface documentation and data flow diagrams
  • High-caliber project management skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risk through prioritization of business initiatives
  • Proven ability to yield results in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment


Preferred
  • Experience using data integration/middleware tools (e.g. Snaplogic, Informatica, SSIS)
  • Experience interacting with web services (SOAP or REST)
  • Experience working with JSON and XML data formats
  • Experience with non-relational data stores such as MongoDB
  • Familiarity with AWS services (e.g. S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, etc.)


Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in normal office working conditions.
