Principal Solutions Architect/Senior Solutions Architect (Managed Services)

We are currently seeking a qualified Principal Solutions Architect to join our growing Managed Services team in Bangalore, India as we continue our rapid growth with an expansion of our Indian subsidiary, phData Solutions Private Limited. With increasing customer demand for Big Data solutions, this expansion comes at the right time. This expansion will triple phData's current capacity and allow more customers access to phData's 24x7 support and solutions.

As a PSA role (Individual Contributor) on our Consulting Team, you will be responsible for scoping large scale, complex technology projects related to Cloudera, AWS/Azure and Snowflake. Closely work with technical infrastructure teams (Managed Services) and key client stakeholders to find creative solutions to tough data problems.  

Technical Responsibilities include:

• Operate and manage modern data platforms - from streaming, to data lakes, to analytics, and beyond across a progressively evolving technical stack.
• Demonstrate clear ownership of client relationships and act as a key technical leader. 
• Scope requirements for large scale, complex technology infrastructure projects ensuring performance, reliability and optimization for big data clusters as well as recommend resources required to deploy and optimize big data technologies
• Proactively identify and articulate best practices and improvements to customers on how to best leverage their modern data platform. 
• Provide thought leadership by recommending the right technologies and approaches to maturing and solving problems to help ensure performance, security, scalability, and user satisfaction.
• Mentor and train phData Solutions Architects and Engineers on technology and best practices.

Qualifications:

Systems Engineering Experience

• 8+ years of Linux OS installation, configuration, administration and performance optimization as a Linux System or Java Middleware Engineer with emphasis on distributed computing
• Expertise in Python, Bash, or another modern scripting or programming language

Hadoop Experience

• Cloudera Administration; managing and monitoring distributed systems and middleware application performance; recommend, configure and optimize Hadoop ecosystem
• Expert in core Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, YARN) and also experts on one or more ecosystem products/languages such as HBase, Spark, Impala, Search, Spark, Nifi, Kudu, etc.
• Configure, troubleshoot and performance tuning Java application
• Proficiency in implementing security controls, including authentication and authorization (LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory, Sentry), encryption on the wire and at rest (TLS, Cloudera Navigator Encrypt), and high availability
• Analyze complex distributed production deployments, and make recommendations to optimize performance

Other Relevant Experience:

• Support for cloud-based big data clusters; AWS preferred
• Infrastructure automation; experience with Ansible and Git is a plus
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and the ability to write, debug, and optimize SQL queries.
• Experience scoping activities on large scale, complex technology infrastructure projects
• Proven experience working with key stakeholders and customers with the ability to translate “big picture” business requirements and use cases into a Hadoop solution, including ingestion of many data sources, ETL processing, data access, and consumption, as well as custom analytics.
• Excellent communication skills and customer relationship management including project escalations, and participating in executive steering meetings

In addition to key technical responsibilities, Principal Solution Architects play a lead role in the following areas: 

• Support one primary client and 1-2 additional clients for short durations.
• Deliver both informal and formal client training
• Help establish and grow our partnership relationships
• Collaborate with practice owners on Statement of Work (SOW) deliverables
• Help attract and retain other top talent in the industry as we continue to grow our team
