About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Product Counsel reporting to our Assistant General Counsel on our Legal team.
The role is a great opportunity to own the go-to-market product work stream from end-to-end, identifying and addressing issues related to future product offerings and feature development. You will serve as the primary legal partner for Ontra’s Product, Data, Engineering, and Marketing teams, assisting in strategic initiatives involving new product and feature development, launching new marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships.Â

What you’ll do
- Advise on go-to-market strategies for the launch of new and updated products, features and services; and for marketing campaigns and product communication strategies
- Establish compliance best practices, including ongoing compliance monitoring and tracking updates to existing law, with respect to privacy, intellectual property, and advertising; identifying and mitigating legal and business reputation risks; and reviewing marketing asset and website copy
- Draft, review and negotiate licensing, co-development, pilot and technology vendor agreements
- Develop and maintain a repository of legal resources that are required for products, such as terms of service, privacy notices, and disclosures/disclaimers; develop and implement training materials
What you’ll bring
- Education: Juris Doctor, admitted to practice law in the United States
- Experience: 5+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years counseling on product matters and technology transactions; 2+ years of BigLaw experience preferred
- Knowledge: Familiar with US and international data privacy laws, marketing laws and regulations, and consumer protection laws
- Process-oriented: You are excited to build and scale internal processes, documentation and systems
- Performance-driven: You have a good business sense, a strong work ethic, and a sense of urgency, honesty and fairness

Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: http://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.
In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
