This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design Lead based in Canada.
This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering and growing large-scale Environmental Assessment (EA) and Preliminary Design (PD) projects within critical transportation infrastructure programs. You will lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for shaping the early planning and design of highways, road widenings, and interchange improvements that directly impact mobility, sustainability, and community development. The role combines technical excellence, project leadership, and strategic business growth across municipal and provincial transportation portfolios. You will act as a key driver of project execution while also supporting the expansion of EA & PD capabilities in the region. The environment is highly collaborative, working closely with engineers, planners, and public-sector stakeholders on complex infrastructure challenges. Accountabilities:
- Lead the delivery and management of Environmental Assessment (EA) and Preliminary Design (PD) portfolios for transportation infrastructure projects across municipal and provincial clients.
- Oversee project execution for highway expansions, road improvements, and interchange modification initiatives, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate contributions across engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines.
- Support business growth by leveraging existing client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand EA & PD services in the region.
- Provide hands-on project leadership for Ministry of Transportation and municipal infrastructure assignments.
- Ensure alignment of project outcomes with regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and client expectations.
- Guide technical decision-making and contribute to high-level design and planning strategies during early project phases.
- Mentor and support team members while fostering strong collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 12+ years of experience delivering Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design projects for major infrastructure programs.
- Proven hands-on project management experience with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) or equivalent large public-sector clients.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Deep understanding of EA processes, preliminary design workflows, and transportation infrastructure planning.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and contribute to business development efforts.
- Competitive salary range: $129,100 – $179,100 CAD annually
