This role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring two days of in-office collaboration per week. (Tuesdays & Wednesdays) This a Hybrid role based out of our San Francisco office. 


About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Revenue Accounting Manager to join our growing Finance team. This critical role will be responsible for overseeing the entire revenue recognition cycle ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (ASC 606) and leading key process improvements and system implementations related to revenue operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in revenue accounting strong leadership skills and a proven ability to drive efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.


This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to work cross-functionally with an experienced and dynamic leadership team.

Responsibilities:


Leadership & Management
  • Lead the daily operations of the Revenue Accounting function including month-end quarter-end and year-end close activities for all revenue-related accounts.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff providing guidance on complex revenue recognition issues and best practices.
  • Collaborate extensively with Product Data Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and proper revenue forecasting.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all technical revenue accounting matters providing internal and external audit support.
Technical Revenue Accounting & Compliance
  • Manage the end-to-end revenue process from contract review to billing collection and reconciliation ensuring compliance with ASC 606.
  • Analyze partnership customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment including identifying performance obligations transaction price and allocation.
  • Prepare and review critical revenue journal entries reconciliations and supporting documentation for deferred revenue unbilled receivables and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain and update the company's revenue accounting policies and procedures documentation.
  • Oversee the calculation of commissions.
Process & System Improvement
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency accuracy and scalability of the revenue close process.
  • Lead or actively participate in the implementation and optimization of revenue recognition modules within the ERP system (e.g. SAP Oracle NetSuite) or specialized revenue management software.
  • Develop and maintain key revenue reporting metrics and dashboards for management review.

Qualifications:

Required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting with at least 4+ years focused specifically on technical revenue recognition.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep practical working knowledge of ASC 606. Experience in a technology SaaS or software industry is highly preferred.
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with Netsuite Tipalti and Ramp preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills or Google Sheets and experience reconciling large sets of data.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex accounting issues clearly.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls related to the revenue cycle.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about marketplaces 

Compensation & Benefits: 

At Taskrabbit our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive transparent and equitable. Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks.

The base pay range for this position is $120000 - $140000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts such as company bonus or benefits. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above and will be determined by factors including but not limited to relevant experience qualifications geography and level.
