This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and implement cutting-edge AI platforms within a fast-growing, mission-driven data and AI environment. You will architect and deploy generative AI and large language model solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, platform engineers, product owners, and DevOps. Your work will directly impact the scalability, performance, and reliability of AI-driven products, enabling advanced automation, decision-making, and analytics. You will provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and contribute to the strategic direction of AI initiatives. The position demands a combination of hands-on AI engineering, system design, and strategic influence across multiple projects and distributed teams. • Design, develop, and implement AI and ML platforms, including pipelines for data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation
• Deploy and maintain state-of-the-art GenAI models, language modeling technologies, and AI agents to enhance product capabilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions that improve user productivity, system performance, and operational efficiency
• Mentor and coach engineers, ensuring adherence to software architecture strategy, coding standards, and best practices
• Drive strategic AI initiatives, providing technical leadership for multiple teams and supporting future growth opportunities
• Build scalable, reliable backend systems, logging, telemetry, and evaluation frameworks for AI and ML solutions
• Contribute to process improvements, Agile/Scrum optimization, and innovation across AI projects and engineering teams

Requirements:

• 7–10 years of experience in software engineering or related disciplines, including 3–5 years in ML/AI engineering within high-growth or research environments
• 2+ years of experience with Databricks and related Data+AI engineering technologies
• Strong expertise in generative AI, large language models, embedding techniques, RAG workflows, SQL Agents, MCP, and Agentic AI systems
• Proficiency in Python and TensorFlow/PyTorch, with experience in scalable ML/AI system architecture
• Experience designing distributed, scalable systems for medium to large-scale data processing (10s–100s of TBs)
• Proven track record of leading AI/engineering projects, mentoring teams, and delivering production-grade systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with software engineering principles, testing, code reviews, deployment, and Agile methodologies
• Preferred: exposure to Snowflake, FHIR, or healthcare data environments
