Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence

Overview

Instacart’s Analytics & Insights Team sits within Business Development, at the intersection of Instacart’s rich grocery industry data and our grocery retail partners. Our grocery partnerships are at the core of Instacart’s business model, and our retail partners' success is of paramount importance to us. This role is focused on building industry leading market intelligence reporting and analytics to help Instacart and its retail partners make better strategic and tactical business decisions. This is a highly impactful role that will engage in building solutions with visibility to the Instacart Executive team as well as to leading largest North American retailers.

As this Senior Analyst you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as defining data requirements, running descriptive analysis, designing and building dashboards, and preparing in-depth “so-what” analysis and business recommendations. You will be able to build high-level and scalable solutions as well as have the ability to dive deeper into the data to uncover actionable insights.

About The Job

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the grocery e-commerce industry, developing market intelligence reports by leveraging internal and 3rd party data
• Be responsible for the development, maintenance, and documentation of market intelligence metrics, including the understanding and structuring of 3rd party data, creation of new data models and analytics layers, and construction of complex yet concise dashboards
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to contribute to the development of periodic market intelligence reports by providing relevant and compelling insights on market and competitive trends
• Work closely with the Business Development team to understand their requirements and create compelling visual dashboards, reports, and presentations
• Lead data investigations to better understand retailer performance in relation to market trends
• Adhere to best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, analysis, validation, and documentation

About You

• 3+ years of experience in an analytics and business intelligence role
• Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data to identify trends and influence business decisions
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools, particularly Tableau
• Ability to quickly respond to problems independently, consider all stakeholder needs, and provide clear, concise answers to complex data
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups
• Experience with dbt or other data transformation tools is a plus
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required
