Senior Backend Engineer - Agentic Pentest

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer - Agentic Pentest based in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering and next-generation cybersecurity, building the infrastructure that powers AI-driven security testing and vulnerability detection. You will contribute to systems that secure the AI-enabled software development lifecycle, from code generation to production runtime. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to design resilient architectures and robust APIs. • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems and APIs supporting AI-driven security and pentesting capabilities.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to define system architecture and translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security across distributed and cloud-native environments.
• Troubleshoot production issues efficiently, ensuring system reliability and minimal downtime in critical environments.
• Lead code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support team growth through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Drive improvements in system design, observability, and engineering workflows to enhance platform resilience.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience building scalable, production-grade systems.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and modern backend frameworks.
• Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases in distributed architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), microservices architecture, and containerized environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on performance, security, and maintainability.
• Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in collaborative engineering environments.
• Active and proficient use of AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, LLM-based assistants) to enhance productivity and workflows.
• Bonus: experience in cybersecurity, SaaS, or cloud security domains, as well as Docker and Kubernetes.
