Senior CAD Manager

We are presently seeking a Senior CAD Manager who will be the subject matter expert and technical owner of Nexom’s CAD ecosystem across mechanical, civil, and process disciplines. This role defines and enforces CAD standards; administers Vault/PDM and file lifecycles; develops automations and content libraries; and actively leads the modelling, drafting, creation, and rollout of robust 3D and model‑based CAD for wastewater equipment and facilities. The Senior CAD Manager works closely with Project Engineering, Applications Engineering, and CAD Operators to ensure drawings, models, and data are accurate, efficient to produce, and compliant with internal and client requirements. Reports to Director of Engineering; receives direction from Engineering Managers

Position Goals

  • Implement new 3D/model-based CAD program for mechanical/civil wastewater equipment and facilities including active day-to-day modelling and drafting.
  • Develop and maintain unified CAD standards, templates, and content across all departments.
  • Implement and maintain a rigorous CAD quality control plan (model health checks, standards audits, pre‑release checklists).
  • Administer and optimize AutoCAD Vault and SolidWorks PDM, including permissions, lifecycles, and backups.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy new CAD software versions, tools, and integrations used by our partners/clients/engineers, and internal users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Standards, Templates, and Automation - Own company‑wide CAD standards, templates, and automation tools to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high‑quality drawing/model outputs.
  • CAD Infrastructure & Administration - Oversee and optimize CAD systems, including Vault and PDM environments.
  • 3D Modeling & Implementation - Lead creation, maintenance, and day‑to‑day development of 3D models and model‑based workflows.
  • Workflow & Data Management - Manage structured CAD workflows, data organization, revision control, and QA/QC.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting - Provide expert help for complex CAD issues and deliver guidance/training to users.
  • Engineering & Client Integration - Align CAD deliverables with engineering requirements, client standards, and external collaborators.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field; Bachelor’s is an asset.
  • 7-10 years direct CAD experience with recent hands‑on production work; prior CAD administration experience required.
  • Expert proficiency with Autodesk tools (AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, Inventor, Revit) and familiarity with SolidWorks; Vault/PDM administration experience is a strong asset.
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and wastewater treatment systems is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to author standards, automate tasks, and improve CAD workflows in a multi‑discipline environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication; ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
