Senior CADD Designer - Waterway Structures
Job Description
Team: Design
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior CADD Designer - Waterway Structures based in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of advanced civil design and critical water infrastructure development, contributing directly to projects that shape waterways, flood protection systems, and hydraulic structures. You will take ownership of producing high-quality construction documents from early-stage concepts through final design deliverables. The environment is highly collaborative, working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers on technically complex infrastructure work. You will be trusted to apply strong design judgment across grading, drainage, and structural layouts. The role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior CADD staff and elevate drafting standards across teams. It is well suited for someone who thrives in detail-oriented, impact-driven engineering design work. Your contributions will directly support resilient infrastructure and long-term community safety.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and refine detailed CADD drawings by interpreting sketches, engineering notes, and technical inputs to determine optimal design approaches from concept through construction documentation.
- Produce computer-generated drawings, including plan sets, overlays, isometric views, surface models, and terrain-based visualizations using advanced CADD tools.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and supporting calculations to inform project planning and execution.
- Execute design computations including earthwork, grading, stormwater drainage analysis, and steep slope assessments.
- Prepare conceptual layouts and complete construction plans for waterway structures and related civil infrastructure systems.
- Design and coordinate grading, utility layouts, stormwater systems, and soil erosion/sediment control measures.
- Ensure adherence to established CADD standards for layering, sheet layout, and drawing consistency across projects.
- Coordinate design details across multiple sheets and disciplines to ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Prepare project exhibits and support multidisciplinary teams in delivering complete project packages.
- Support increasing levels of design complexity as expertise grows, while also contributing to team-wide design quality improvements.
- Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Civil Design, or related field.
- 7+ years of CADD experience focused on civil infrastructure, with strong exposure to waterway or hydraulic structures preferred.
- Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Land Desktop Companion, AutoTURN, and related civil design software.
- Strong understanding of civil design principles including grading, drainage, and earthwork modeling.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, technical drawings, and construction specifications with precision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design deliverables in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for technical documentation and communication.
- Experience supporting infrastructure projects such as dams, levees, stormwater systems, or similar water-related structures is highly valued.
- Competitive hourly compensation ($36.30 – $49.28/hour depending on experience and qualifications)
