This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Counsel, Litigation & Disputes based in the United States.

This is a high-impact legal leadership role responsible for owning and shaping the organization’s litigation and dispute strategy across a fast-moving, data-driven technology environment. You will serve as the primary in-house expert for active and emerging litigation matters, guiding strategy across commercial, regulatory, employment, and data-related disputes. The role requires balancing hands-on ownership of complex matters with the ability to build scalable legal infrastructure that reduces risk and improves decision-making across the business. You will work closely with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, compliance, and sales to translate legal exposure into practical, actionable guidance. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring strong judgment, clarity under pressure, and the ability to operate across multiple concurrent matters. This is a strategic, business-facing counsel role where litigation expertise directly shapes product and operational decisions.

Accountabilities:

  • Own and manage the full litigation portfolio, including commercial disputes, employment matters, regulatory inquiries, pre-litigation demands, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external litigation counsel, overseeing strategy, controlling costs, and ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain litigation infrastructure, including legal holds, matter tracking systems, escalation protocols, and outside counsel guidelines.
  • Partner with Privacy, Compliance, Security, and Product teams to advise on legal risk, data retention, and dispute-prevention strategies.
  • Provide clear, business-oriented legal guidance to cross-functional stakeholders on litigation exposure and risk mitigation.
  • Identify systemic patterns across disputes and translate insights into proactive risk reduction strategies and policy improvements.
  • Support discovery processes, including coordination of internal document collection and external e-discovery vendors.
  • Contribute to broader legal initiatives involving commercial disputes and customer/vendor contractual issues.
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to leadership, delivering concise updates on high-risk or high-impact matters.
  • Requirements:

    • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
    • Significant litigation experience handling complex commercial, regulatory, employment, or data-related disputes.
    • Prior experience as lead or co-lead counsel, ideally including in-house litigation experience.
    • Proven ability to manage outside counsel, including strategy direction, budget oversight, and performance management.
    • Strong understanding of data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CCPA, GDPR or similar).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal issues for non-legal stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with experience managing multiple active matters simultaneously.
    • Ability to build legal infrastructure and improve processes in fast-paced or scaling environments.
    • Business-oriented mindset with strong judgment in risk assessment and decision-making.
    • Comfort working with AI-enabled tools to improve legal research, drafting, and workflow efficiency.
    • Preferred: experience in high-growth technology environments and exposure to SaaS or data-driven businesses.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary with bonus and equity eligibility
      • Estimated salary range: $205,200 – $295,000 USD depending on location and experience
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans
      • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company support
      • Paid time off including flexible PTO, holidays, and parental leave
      • Equity participation in a high-growth technology environment
      • Life, disability, and supplemental insurance coverage
      • Employee wellness and assistance programs
      • Remote-first work environment with periodic in-person collaboration
      • Professional development and learning support
