About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our Security Engineering team. This person will have a prominent role in designing and building an environment to ensure our codebase, our infrastructure, and our data is secure.Â
The role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be the founding member of our Security Purple team and has experience on what successful security purple teaming looks like. You will be responsible for helping secure both the Ontra application and all core production technologies.

What you’ll do
- Monitoring : Assist with research and monitoring IOCs, TTPs, threat attacks/vectors and EDR/XDR Solutions for our edge environments.Â
- Security Resilience: Perform regular security reviews on 3rd party vendors and build security requirements and testing over tooling we are looking at to purchase.
- Cross Collaboration: Collaborate with IT, People, Legal, Engineering, Product, and DevOps to monitor and ensure security best practices are being followed throughout the organization.
- Incident Response: Monitor for and promptly resolve any security incidents.
- Support Security Protocols: Support security in maintaining compliance with SOC 2, ISO, and other privacy and security standards.
- Security Automation: Identify weaknesses in our SDLC and Security environments to automate testing tools.
What you’ll bring
- Security Experience: 8+ years of experience as a Security Engineer
- Cybersecurity Skills: Understanding of pentesting, forensics, threat hunting, and incident response and investigations with open source tooling any vendor experience a plus.
- Exploit Research and Advanced Pentesting: Certifications are a big plus (OCSP and/or GXPN)
- Security Frameworks Expertise: Knowledge of NIST, SOC 2, CIS Benchmarks, or ISO 27001.
- Work Ethic: The ability to collaborate in a cross-team environment, explaining complex research found in your pentesting to multiple audiences including developers, engineers and leadership.
- Excellent Communication Skills: A background in writing clear, detailed documentation and presenting findings to members across an organization including technical and non-technical audiences.

Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: http://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.
In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
