OVERVIEW

The NextGen Operations Team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst.

Highlights:

The Senior Data Analyst (Contract) is a partner to our Assortment Planning team.  Working collaboratively and cross-functionally, the Analyst drives the success of our Assortment Planning ecosystem by owning the ideation, creation, and long-term success of our tooling. They are an expert in not only tactical work like KPI definitions and dashboarding but also a capable data storyteller with a passion for shepherding insights into real-world impact. They take direct ownership of how we define success criteria for the selection and curation of products offered by our partners through our NextGen fulfillment model. Their work products should not only motivate the local success of their Retailer's assortment but ‘think big’ to motivate changes in how Instacart’s Assortment Management Product develops at-large.

About our NextGen Operations team:

NextGen Operations team owns innovation in operations and works cross-functionally to bring new fulfillment solutions to market in partnership with retailers. The NextGen Ops team is charged with creating step-change improvements in growth, customer experience, operations, and shopper experience as we focus on creating new solutions across our multiple operating models that accelerate the future of grocery. As part of this charter, NextGen Ops have been key stakeholders in developing Instacart’s cutting-edge technology that helps its retail partners bring innovative fulfillment sites to market. 

ABOUT THE JOB

Some key responsibilities of a Senior Data Analyst include:

• Contribute to the overall success of our Assortment Planning team by delivering compelling insights, performing detailed ad hoc analyses, building business cases, and analyzing sales data and consumer feedback to continually maximize sales, drive market growth, and enhance the shopping experience for our customers.
• Own the analytical ecosystem of Assortment Management: Build dashboards and stand-up reporting that captures item, category, site, network, and total enterprise-level sales and conversion performance
• Partner with the Assortment Planning team to develop assortment selection requirements, logic, and tooling that enables the selection of best-fit products and automates processes. Contribute to solution design by producing slotting plans that maximize sales and profitability in Instacart’s dark fulfillment sites
• Motivate changes in Instacart’s Products by ideating and concisely communicating step-change improvement opportunities to our Product Management, Data Engineering, and Data Engineering teams
• Support the Assortment Planning and Business Development teams in Partner management through timely exec-level analyses and materials
• Be a source of truth to our team: Independently own, build, and maintain SQL-based data sources
• Support the NextGen team at large by lending your analytical prowess to cross-functional teams as needed. We are an innovation team, so expect to engage with an ever changing array of problems that stretch your skills and offer enormous room to learn and grow!
• Up to 25% travel as you work hands-on with our retail and fulfillment partners

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor's degree in analytics, business, marketing, or a related field with equivalent work experience
• 4+ years supply chain experience
• Advanced SQL required.  Advanced Excel preferred, and Python experience a major plus 
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to drive success through innovation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of retail trends and consumer behavior
• Proficiency with inventory management software
