Job Details:

In this position, you will be responsible for designing new solutions for internal and external clients to improve business efficiency and productivity. This will involve working closely with the client, to examine existing business models and the flows of data in the business, discuss findings and then design an appropriate improved solution which may be IT based or new business processes. It will also include the management of key applications supporting various business processes. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data cleaning and preparation pipelines
  • Design new performance metrics, benchmarks, and indices that maximize the value of data
  • Design and develop powerful data models that are analytics ready and extensible
  • Create ERDs, schemas, and other associated artifacts related with pipeline development and data analysis
  • Design data validation scripts and ensure data quality standards are adhered to
  • Research, interpret and perform quantitative and qualitative analysis against transportation data on topics such as urban mobility, land use, growth management, demographic studies, economic development and housing
  • Significant contributor to project teams to develop new reporting and analysis tools and workflows
  • Consult with clients to understand information needs and business challenges and recommend approaches to address them through the delivery of customized decision support tools and services
  • Present results from analyses to internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply understanding of global and/or local trends and events (e.g., economics, social issues) to assist with the formulation of hypotheses and interpretation of data
  • Identify data sources that can provide additional context to stakeholder analytics requirements
  • Stay current with technical and industry developments, analytics software/tools, and recognized best practices

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four year college degree and a minimum of four years business analyst work experience, preferably in the transit industry with a variety of experience in various departments.
  • Education in business management is very desirable.
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) designation a plus.
  • Experience working with external customers developing business design documentation. Project management and resource management experience are required.
  • Significant experience with those of the following technologies which direct relate to role: database and application management, report design, SQL experience, use case requirements for a multimodal one-account, or financial system configuration of CODA and CCH.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate new ideas/issues to others as well as effectively interface with employees, management and customers.
  • Must be very detail orientated and be able to plan and work flexibly to a deadline.
  • The position requires strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Position also requires the ability to work autonomously.
  • Individual must be able to travel periodically to customer sites.
