Team: Project Management

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior IT Project Manager based in United States.

This is a strategic opportunity for an experienced IT project leader to drive the successful planning, execution, and governance of complex technology initiatives within a large-scale enterprise environment. The role focuses on strengthening project delivery practices through advanced scheduling, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development, and portfolio-level coordination. You will partner with project managers, technical teams, and leadership to improve delivery outcomes, optimize resources, and enhance project execution standards. This position combines hands-on project management with coaching and capability-building responsibilities, making a direct impact on operational maturity and technology transformation. Working remotely, you will support mission-critical programs while helping teams adopt consistent, effective project management practices.

Accountabilities

  • Define and implement project scheduling standards, methodologies, and best practices across a portfolio of IT initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain master project schedules using Microsoft Project Server, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop, refine, and govern Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and WBS dictionaries based on project requirements, technical needs, and delivery goals.
  • Facilitate collaboration sessions with project managers, business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to break down project scope into actionable work packages.
  • Analyze project schedules to identify dependencies, critical paths, resource constraints, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coach and advise project managers on schedule development, task sequencing, dependency management, baseline planning, and reporting practices.
  • Lead selected complex IT projects, including new technology implementations, service launches, platform upgrades, and software enhancements.
  • Develop project plans, manage risks and issues, oversee change control activities, and ensure delivery against scope, timeline, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across business, development, infrastructure, security, operations, and vendor groups to support successful project execution.
  • Use advanced reporting and analytical techniques to provide leadership with project insights, status updates, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Continuously improve project management capabilities through lessons learned, process enhancements, templates, and standardized practices.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree may qualify with additional professional experience.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing IT projects, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise technology environments.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques.
    • Strong experience with Microsoft Project Server, project scheduling, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and project management best practices.
    • Experience analyzing project and program status, preparing documentation, and presenting insights to leadership.
    • Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM)-based services and operational delivery processes.
    • Experience managing complex technology initiatives involving software implementations, infrastructure improvements, integrations, or service enhancements.
    • Required certifications include DoD 8140.03 Work Role (802) IT Project Manager – Basic, with PMP certification preferred and ITIL Foundation certification required within three months of hire.
    • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and guide project teams.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to maintain an active Secret clearance.
