The Role
Block is seeking Senior Litigation Counsel to join a team that's responsible for the company's most complex high-profile litigation and regulatory enforcement matters. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator who combines sharp strategic judgment with a pragmatic business-oriented approach and who thrives in a fast-moving yet highly collaborative environment.
You will play a key role in shaping litigation and enforcement strategy across a diverse portfolio of matters impacting Block's ecosystem of products and services.
You Will

• Lead strategy for significant litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from pre-litigation through resolution
• Advise senior leadership on legal risk enforcement trends and business impact particularly in areas affecting fintech payments and data use
• Manage and partner closely with outside counsel to drive high-quality efficient outcomes
• Personally engage on critical aspects of matters including legal strategy discovery and key filings
• Handle complex disputes across areas such as class actions commercial litigation privacy and consumer protection
• Work exceptionally closely with other Counsel teams-including Policy Product Regulatory and Corporate-to align on risk and strategy
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Engineering Compliance and Risk to proactively identify and mitigate issues consistent with business priorities

You Have

• J.D. and active bar membership
• 10+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm government agency or in-house
• experience leading complex litigation and/or regulatory enforcement matters; bonus for deep securities litigation experience
• Expertise in areas such as class actions commercial disputes privacy and/or financial regulatory enforcement issues
• Experience in litigation for a public company including financial reporting audit and governance obligations
• Strong judgment and the ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance
• Exceptional collaboration skills with a track record of working effectively across legal disciplines and cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• AI-first perspective with interest in building and leveraging AI-driven tools for litigation management discovery and related workflows.
