Job Description

Team: Marketing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Marketing Automation Developer based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering and lifecycle marketing, focused on building scalable, data-driven customer engagement systems across multiple channels. You will design and optimize sophisticated messaging workflows that power personalized experiences throughout the customer journey. Working in a fast-paced, agile environment, you will collaborate closely with product, data, analytics, and engineering teams to translate business needs into robust marketing automation solutions. The role is heavily hands-on, requiring strong technical depth in modern customer engagement platforms such as Braze. You will also play a key role in modernizing legacy systems, improving campaign reliability, and evolving lifecycle architecture. Your work will directly impact customer activation, retention, and long-term engagement outcomes.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and optimize multi-channel marketing automation campaigns and customer journeys across email, SMS, push, and in-app messaging, primarily using Braze.
  • Develop and maintain Braze Canvases, campaigns, segments, Liquid personalization, Connected Content, catalogs, subscription groups, and API-triggered messaging workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, data-driven lifecycle marketing solutions in collaboration with lifecycle marketing, product, analytics, data, and engineering teams.
  • Implement event-driven messaging programs using customer attributes, behavioral events, and integrated data sources such as CRM, CDP, and data warehouses.
  • Support migration efforts from legacy platforms (e.g., SFMC) to Braze-native architecture, including rebuilding journeys, automations, and personalization logic.
  • Build responsive, modular email templates using HTML/CSS and platform-specific personalization tools.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, QA processes, documentation, naming conventions, and reusable components for campaign development.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to campaign logic, data quality, API-triggered messaging, rendering, and journey performance.
  • Support deliverability, compliance, and consent management requirements (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA, TCPA), including suppression and preference handling.
  • Participate in peer reviews, documentation efforts, and knowledge sharing to improve team consistency and execution quality.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in marketing automation, CRM operations, lifecycle marketing technology, or martech development.
    • Hands-on experience with Braze or comparable customer engagement platforms, including campaigns, journeys, segmentation, and personalization.
    • Strong knowledge of Braze features such as Canvas, Campaigns, Liquid, Connected Content, custom events, attributes, and API-triggered messaging.
    • Experience delivering multi-channel messaging programs across email, SMS, push, and/or in-app channels.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Contact Builder, AMPscript, SQL) is highly desirable.
    • Experience working with CDPs (e.g., Segment, mParticle) and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
    • Understanding of APIs, webhooks, event streaming, reverse ETL, and data integrations between marketing and backend systems.
    • Strong email development skills, including responsive HTML/CSS, modular design systems, personalization logic, and rendering QA.
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across data, segmentation, personalization, and campaign execution.
    • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments.
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary range: $117,500 – $135,000 (based on location, experience, and qualifications).
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
      • 401(k) with company match.
      • Paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and volunteer time off.
      • 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
      • Pre-tax transit benefits and additional voluntary benefit options.
      • No-cost life insurance coverage.
      • Wellness incentive programs and employee support initiatives.
      • Pet health insurance discount program.
      • Mentorship, leadership development, and career growth opportunities.
      • Inclusive, team-oriented, and high-performance work environment.
