  • Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including filings and withholding requirements.
  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations, including payroll bank accounts and expense data validation.
  • Partner with HR to administer benefits deductions such as health insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary programs.
  • Maintain equity administration processes, including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP grants, vesting schedules, and exercise tracking.
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll-related expenses and support monthly and quarterly financial close activities.
  • Maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and documentation to ensure financial integrity and audit readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement of payroll systems, workflows, and HRIS/ERP integrations.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in payroll and accounting, including multi-state payroll administration.
    • Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, with experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
    • Experience with payroll, HRIS, and equity platforms (e.g., Rippling, Workday, ADP, Fidelity, E*TRADE).
    • Solid understanding of equity compensation structures including RSUs, NSOs, ISOs, and ESPPs.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive financial and compensation data with discretion and professionalism.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across HR, Finance, and leadership teams.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary range of $110,000 to $130,000 USD annually, depending on experience and location.
      • Equity grant opportunities and performance-based bonus eligibility.
      • Comprehensive benefits package including health, welfare, and retirement plans.
      • Unlimited PTO and company-wide shutdown periods for rest and recharge.
      • Remote-first work environment with periodic in-person collaboration.
      • Professional development opportunities in a high-growth biotech environment.
      • Exposure to both operational and strategic finance responsibilities in a scaling organization.
