Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Payroll Implementation Specialist based in Spain.

Join a globally distributed payroll team responsible for delivering seamless, compliant payroll implementations across international markets. In this role, you will lead end-to-end onboarding projects for clients operating in the Netherlands and Belgium, ensuring every implementation is accurate, efficient, and ready for successful go-live. You'll collaborate with payroll experts, internal stakeholders, and software providers while driving process improvements in a fully remote, asynchronous environment. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who combines deep regional expertise with strong project management skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences. You'll play a key role in shaping implementation standards while supporting continuous innovation and operational excellence.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the complete payroll implementation lifecycle for clients in the Netherlands and Belgium, from project kickoff through parallel runs and successful go-live.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for local payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and payroll best practices across both countries.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, payroll software providers, internal teams, and operational stakeholders throughout implementation projects.
  • Configure, validate, and maintain payroll data within payroll systems while ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop implementation plans, documentation, standard operating procedures, and scalable payroll processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations, validate parallel payroll runs, monitor project milestones, and ensure KPIs and service levels are consistently achieved.
  • Support knowledge sharing by mentoring colleagues and contributing to platform enhancements, testing activities, and continuous process improvements.
  • Requirements

    • Several years of hands-on payroll implementation experience covering both the Netherlands and Belgium.
    • Strong knowledge of Dutch and Belgian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, compliance requirements, and payroll regulations.
    • Proven experience leading end-to-end payroll implementation projects from client onboarding through production rollout.
    • Hands-on experience with AFAS payroll software; familiarity with EasyPay is highly desirable.
    • Strong project management, stakeholder communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience performing payroll reconciliations, validating payroll outputs, and documenting implementation processes.
    • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, fast-paced, asynchronous environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
    • Fluency in English; Dutch and/or French language skills are considered a strong advantage.
    • Experience with payroll automation, AI-enabled workflows, or process optimization is a plus.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive salary based on location, experience, and market benchmarks.
      • Fully remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
      • Flexible working hours supported by an asynchronous work culture.
      • Flexible paid time off to promote work-life balance.
      • 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
      • Mental health support services.
      • Stock options.
      • Learning and professional development budget.
      • Home office budget and company-provided IT equipment.
      • Budget for local coworking spaces and in-person social events.
      • Opportunities for internal career growth and international collaboration within a global team.
