Senior Product Designer - Active Learning Experience

About this role
As a Senior Product Designer on the Active Learning Team, your work will focus on helping learners achieve their learning goals through demonstration and practice of skills and learning (like practice tests, quizzes and coding exercises) throughout their learning experience. This role focuses on developing hands-on learning experiences for learners and instructors that leverage experiences enabled by advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. You will be helping to invent the future of learning with a cross-functional team of data scientists, engineers and learning scientists!
You will lead the design of product experiences that motivate learners and support lasting learning habits, facilitate ideation within your product area and be a champion for our learners, instructors and administrators.
Creating new and impactful learning experiences is a key component of Udemy's mission, and a major contributor to our success with companies and individuals around the world.
What you'll be doing
- Playing a central role in helping learners pursue their educational goals through effective, impactful learning experiences and instructors being set up for success in creating the best and most effective learning experience for their students.
- Employing the Udemy learning principles as key drivers in crafting learning experiences that help Learners meet their goals.
- Facilitating ideation within your product area and champion the users while managing stakeholder input.
- Partnering with data scientists, engineers, learning scientists, UX research to understand best practices that support learning and design truly innovative learning experiences.
- Utilizing qualitative and quantitative datasets to inform hypotheses, inform design and support experiments (e.g. A/B testing etc.)
- Being a part of our growing design team that prioritizes a high degree of autonomy supported by regular collaboration, and constructive design reviews.
- Driving and articulating the design process, taking solutions through multiple iterations and rounds of feedback with your team, stakeholders, the design group and the potential users.
- Facilitating learning in our product by supporting learning experiences in 14 languages, meeting learner accessibility needs, and increasing access to education for all learners around the world.
We're excited about you because you have
- 5+ years of practice designing and shipping delightful cross-platform experiences.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human and Computer Interaction, Web Design, Interactive Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent practical work experience.
- A portfolio of end-to-end product design work that showcases your involvement from research and discovery to user experience design and partnering with engineering throughout implementation. Demonstrated ability to ship products that customers love.
- An ability to unpack complex customer and business needs and iterate toward refined solutions.
- Excited about leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to design and deliver resonant experiences
- Prior edtech or teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
- A refined aesthetic sensibility in your visual design work.
- Excitement to work on a team of world-class design, product, research, and engineering talent to make a product that millions of people around the world use to teach and learn new skills
