Responsibilities

The Senior Programmer Analyst, will take on a combination of following responsibilities:

  • Be a part of Mainframe Center of Excellence team and Advisory role to Application Maintenance and Support or Development or Modernization on timely basis
  • Act in an advisory role on customer Mainframe Estate on Performance tuning, Optimization, tech Refresh, modernization
  • Review performance metrics including MIPS, analyze and come up with resolutions
  • Drive various initiatives/programs around software, hardware, migration across multiple vendors
  • Own the complete Mainframe estate, regular audit, review of software/hardware refresh
  • Pitch in for major incidents, triage calls, major deployments, war room activities in case when help needed from Center of excellence team
  • Adhere to agreed SLA's in terms of software, Hardware performance, delivery initiated by Center or Excellence
  • Build strong working relationship with onshore/offshore team, customer, multiple vendors and users.
  • Good awareness of the customer's business and in-depth knowledge of the customer's environment and processes.
  • Generate and submit reports/updates to management when needed.
  • Must have a sense of ownership in handling project and technical issues and able to provide effective and timely resolution.
  • Complete and keep up to date with all Mandatory trainings.
  • Ensure following of processes and best practices

Primary Duties:

  • Performance monitoring of Mainframe components
  • Optimization and tuning. performance tuning, initiatives to drive cost, time, impact to production
  • Advisory to technical roadmap of customer's Mainframe estate, software, hardware upgrade, timely refresh
  • Advice on modernization roadmap
  • Advisory on Mainframe security
  • Individual responsibility to advice various teams like Mainframe Application Development, Maintenance and Support, Modernization across multiple vendors.
  • Strong Expertise in Mainframe technology Advisory/Chief Architect/Senior Consultant which includes COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS, DL/1, MQ, Assembler, REXX, FOCUS etc
  • Exposure to IT Service Management process.
  • Familiar with SDLC process
  • Knowledge in Agile or Waterfall methodology.
  • Application modernization experience in moving from legacy Mainframe technologies to modern technology.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to Mainframe software
  • Work with multiple vendors/teams to provide written responses to technical proposals and /or reports/documentation for delivery
  • Experience in identifying and delivering technical solutions to customer business problems on software refresh program
  • Excellent English both verbal and written communication skills and capable of independently communicating with customers.
  • Should be flexible to work in shifts (24/7) if necessary, for major incidents or deployments, or align with UK working hours to give maximum overlap
  • Exposure to IT Service Management, Agile or Waterfall software development process
  • Vantage/wMA experience
  • Life Insurance domain knowledge

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience in REXX, ADABAS, ASSEMBLER, EASYTRIVE, FOCUS, SUPRA, XPEDITOR, MOSAR
  • Knowledge in Assyst CMDB, ENDEVOR
  • Debugging tools like Intertest/EXPEDITOR, CA tools,

Work Environment

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $72,600 - $109,000.
