About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Senior Security Engineer reporting to our Director of Platform Engineering.
The role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be the founding member of our Application Security team and has opinions on what successful security implementations look like. You will be responsible for helping secure both the Ontra application and all core production technologies.

What you’ll do
- Security Implementations: Implement security and vulnerability scanning systems and processes
- Cross Functional Teamwork: Work with DevOps to develop secure remote development environments and Engineering to perform design and code reviews
- SDLC Updates: Drive improvements to our SDLC to ensure that security is considered earlier in the process
- Pen Testing: Support resolving security issues discovered during penetration testing or vulnerability scanning
- Security Reviews: Perform security risk assessments and compliance reviews to ensure applications are operating in accordance with established policies and procedures
What you’ll bring
- Security Experience: 7+ years of experience as a Security Engineer
- Software Skills: Understanding of version control, testing, and code design in any modern language
- Cloud development: Built and maintained software and services on the AWS cloud platform
- Security Frameworks Expertise: Knowledge of NIST, SOC 2, or ISO 27001
- Work Ethic: The ability to work in a cross-team environment while being the founding engineer in App Security
Colorado applicants only: The estimated annual cash salary for this role is $234,000. The total compensation package also includes benefits (as further detailed below) as well as unit-based compensation. Compensation for other locations may vary.
