Position Description
Are you seeking a mission driven organization fighting against climate change and building the energy future? You will have exposure to a rapidly growing company in a stable and booming industry, collaborating with individuals on the cutting edge of the intersection between data science and renewable energy.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be responsible for supporting the infrastructure needed to build and maintain the CI/CD automating the testing and deployment, as well as supporting the database maintenance and optimization that will enable the deployment of algorithms and applications in the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Solar and Storage industry experts and data scientists to support the infrastructure environment needed to implement and deploy web applications which best meet the company needs
- Build CI/CD infrastructure to automate the testing and deployment of software components that include the frontend and backend services.
- Build monitoring infrastructure and dashboard for visibility and improve performance
- Document key design decisions and features in the software components and contribute to the development of the agile software engineering processes
- Ensure that data scientists and soft engineers are productive by acting as a jack-of-all-trades, someone that is hands-on building and enabling infrastructure, services and databases, taking ownership of the CI/CD and continuously optimizing the implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related technical field or relevant experience
- 5+ years overall experience in software engineering
- 2 years of experience in a cutting-edge site reliability role utilizing container orchestration technologies & infrastructure automation (Kubernetes, Docker, Puppet, Chef, etc.)
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure and services (preferably Azure)
- Prior 3 years’ experience in SQL DB Admin role and strong knowledge of procedural programming, performance tuning, and monitoring (SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL, etc.)
- Experience with ETL and workflow management (AirFlow, Azure Data Factory)
- Fluency in a significant array of varied scripting and programming languages; including but not limited to Python and Bash.
- Have supported production systems and passionate about availability, observability, and reliability performance while reducing toil
- Have a deep understanding of backend infrastructure and proficient at programming and interacting with APIs.
- Experience with big data platforms (such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Pig, Apache Hive, Apache Sqoop & Apache Spark) will be highly regarded
- Experience in the energy industry or renewable energy industry specifically is a plus
