Senior Software Development Engineer(Tech Lead)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Tech Lead) based in India.

You will join a high-impact engineering organization focused on building and scaling distributed backend systems that support large-scale digital experiences used by millions of users worldwide. In this role, you will operate as both a hands-on senior engineer and a technical leader, responsible for shaping architecture, driving execution, and ensuring production-grade reliability across complex systems. You will work on both greenfield initiatives and existing platform evolution, helping define how modern cloud-native services are designed and delivered. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply technical, with strong emphasis on ownership from design through production. You will influence engineering standards across teams while mentoring engineers and fostering best practices. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in solving ambiguous, large-scale problems and enjoys combining deep engineering with technical leadership. You will also contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted development and modern engineering workflows.

• Lead the design and development of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed backend systems using modern cloud architectures
• Drive end-to-end delivery of complex features and platform capabilities from design through production deployment
• Architect greenfield solutions and evolve existing systems to improve scalability, reliability, and performance
• Own technical design discussions across multiple services, ensuring strong system design principles and long-term maintainability
• Debug and resolve critical production issues across distributed systems and microservices
• Implement and improve observability practices including monitoring, logging, alerting, and distributed tracing
• Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and promote engineering best practices across teams
• Drive agile ceremonies and foster a strong culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-assisted engineering and cloud-native tools

Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale, production-grade backend systems
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go, Python, or Node.js
• Deep expertise in AWS cloud services including EKS, ECS, Fargate, Lambda, S3, SQS/SNS, RDS/Aurora, and IAM
• Strong experience with distributed systems design, high availability architectures, and performance optimization
• Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation
• Experience with observability tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
• Strong database expertise with PostgreSQL/Aurora and MongoDB, focusing on scalability and reliability
• Proven technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and leading end-to-end delivery
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and driving continuous engineering improvements
• Nice to have: frontend or full-stack experience with React
• Nice to have: experience with load/performance testing tools such as k6, Locust, or JMeter
• Nice to have: exposure to AI/ML or LLM-powered system integrations
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
