About the Role:
As Senior Statistical Programmer I you will be recognized as a subject matter expert, providing technical support and expert advice to internal and external identities (including CROs), and lead programming team on projects. In addition, you will Develop SAS programs for SDTM, ADaM, client-defined analysis datasets, Patient Profiles, Tables, Listings and Graphs in support of the Statistical Analysis Plan, posters, manuscripts, Integrated of Summary of Safety (ISS) and Integrated Summary of Efficacy (ISE)Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical planning to include overseeing the set-up of key macros and SAS programs.Â
- Act as a Lead Programmer for projectsÂ
- Act as a Statistical Programming consultant to other departments e.g. Clinical Data Management, Project Management and Medical Writing.Â
- Demonstrate excellent problem solving skills, a proactive approach and a willingness to make decisions on a regular basis.Â
- Ensure quality of personal work and the work of the team when acting as a Lead ProgrammerÂ
- Prioritize personal workload and that of teammates; perform work with minimal supervision
- Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables; development of technical solutions to abstract problems which require the use of ingenuity and creativity.Â
- Display a positive attitude at all times, promoting and contributing to good team spirit in a professional environment.Â
- Review draft and final production runs for project to ensure quality and consistency.Â
- Contributing to the development and implementation of SOPs.Â
- Provide ongoing training and mentoring within Statistical Programming to ensure thorough knowledge of the processes used and the ongoing technical development.Â
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Education and Experience:
Education:
- BSc in a computing, life science, mathematical or statistical subject.Â
- A high computing content is considered to be beneficial; however proven computing skills are most important.Â
- Alternative academic qualifications or experience are assessed to ensure equivalent background.
Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience of Statistical Programming within a clinical trials environment with 4 years successfully leading programming activities in clinical research required.Â
License/Certificate:
Base, Advanced, and Clinical Trial SAS certificates a plus
Skills:
Technical:
- Demonstrated SAS programming skills within a clinical trials environment.Â
- Knowledge in all aspects of clinical trials from initial study set-up to study completion.Â
- Full knowledge and understanding of the processes and procedures used within a Statistical Programming environment.Â
Leadership:
- Able to identify training and development needs, opportunities for optimizing staff utilization and employing the most efficient practices.Â
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to delegate and prioritize work to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standardsÂ
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimum direction.Â
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standards of work.Â
- A proactive approach to developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff in other disciplines to achieve consistent processes and standards across them.Â
- Team leadership experience, as demonstrated by ability to organize and motivate project teams
Communication:
- Excellent written and verbal communication Â
- Must be able to interact and liaison effectively with people at all levels of the organization and with external vendors, investigators, site personnel, etc.
Other:
Ability to travel domestically for meetings as necessary
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 – $150,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
