Accountabilities:

As a Senior Strategic Account Director, you will oversee strategic client relationships, lead account growth initiatives, and ensure the successful delivery of medical communications solutions. You will act as a senior advisor to healthcare and life sciences clients while mentoring account teams and driving operational excellence across complex programs.

  • Serve as the primary strategic partner for a portfolio of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare clients.
  • Develop and execute annual account strategies aligned with client objectives, business priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior marketing, commercial, and medical affairs stakeholders.
  • Lead integrated medical communications programs, ensuring high-quality execution, timelines, budgets, and client satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic guidance to internal account teams, supporting collaboration across multiple disciplines.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop Strategic Account Directors, Strategic Account Managers, and Account Associates.
  • Identify opportunities for account expansion, new services, and long-term partnership growth.
  • Support business development initiatives, including pitches, proposals, and strategic client opportunities.
  • Manage account financial performance, including forecasting revenue, monitoring budgets, and supporting profitability.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to improve processes, strengthen client value, and drive business success.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is a strategic and commercially minded healthcare communications leader with extensive experience managing complex client relationships and leading high-performing teams. You should have strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotechnology environments, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate business challenges into impactful solutions.

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare marketing, medical affairs, or medical communications agency environments.
    • Proven success managing and growing healthcare or pharmaceutical accounts with significant annual revenue responsibility.
    • Experience acting as a strategic advisor to senior-level stakeholders across marketing, commercial, or medical affairs functions.
    • Strong leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing account management professionals.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, manage budgets, forecast performance, and support profitability.
    • Excellent strategic thinking skills with the ability to understand client challenges and create actionable plans.
    • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building capabilities.
    • Experience supporting new business development initiatives, including proposals and client pitches, is preferred.
    • Advanced degree such as PhD, MD, PharmD, MBA, or related graduate qualification is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of healthcare communications strategy and pharmaceutical industry trends.
    • Advanced presentation development and PowerPoint skills are preferred.
