Senior UI/UX Product Designer (US Remote)

The Product Design team at LeanTaaS is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Product Designer to help lead UX and design efforts for our products. This is a role best suited for a skilled generalist, someone who is interested in the whole product lifecycle from discovery to development to launch and beyond. At LeanTaaS, the Product Design team works with product and engineering partners on the product vision, user research, concepts/prototypes, and of course high-fidelity, dev-ready design deliverables in Figma. 

The Hiring Process: Every application is reviewed by the hiring manager, our Head of Design. You don’t need a cover letter, just a resume chock full of experience and/or a portfolio that shows what you’re capable of. Qualified applicants will get a call from the hiring manager to talk about product design and learn a bit about our company and our team. 3-4 people will be selected to meet the team, including designers, product managers and front-end engineers. Finally, you’ll get to tell us who you’d like to talk to, and that can be anyone from customer support, or data science, the CEO… you tell us! You don’t have to be a 10/10 in the following areas, but you’ll be doing a bit of each throughout the phases of the initiatives you’ll be working on. We expect some specialization to occur as the company and the team scale, but the product teams will continue to operate as scrappy startups within a startup (and we love this). 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Interaction Design: Create user flows, sketches, diagrams, and high-level concepts to drive conversations with stakeholders and customers
• Research: Independently moderate or observe usability tests, conduct user interviews, deploy surveys, and use analytics software; analyze research data, synthesize insights, and propose solutions based on data and insights
• Design System: Contribute frequently to the Figma design library; help maintain the Figma library, review contributions, and manage releases; moderate discussions between design and front-end engineering regarding the design system (design + code components)
• Design Strategy: Partner with PMs and Directors to scope and plan design engagements for initiatives and quarterly roadmaps; run workshops with product teams and executives; work with PMs on early concepts to Value Test with customers
• Leadership: Lead the design engagements for a product team or as the primary designer on an initiative; work directly with junior designers as a mentor and delegate tasks to them; host lunch ‘n’ learns and present work to the company
• Transparency: Actively keep cross-functional team members up-to-date on design decisions and progress of initiatives
• Communication/Collaboration: Communicate clearly and drive collaboration between cross-functional team members

• Visual Design: Deep knowledge and application of visual design concepts; can speak to and debate contemporary design trends. Introduce and moderate discussion of visual design topics

• Empathy: Demonstrate highest level of empathy for users, customers, and stakeholders
• Strong Opinions, Weakly Held: Demonstrate highest aptitude to make choices, move forward, but adjust quickly as new data comes to light
