We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing Product Development team. This team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of our award-winning Mantis suite of contextual publishing and AdTech tools.

Role Location

This is a remote/hybrid position, and so we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK. We can be flexible, however we would expect the incumbent to travel to HQ in Canary Wharf approximately once or twice a month.

Job Description

Our Mantis product development team is enhancing and improving our current systems and building the next generation of Mantis services and products.

Key aspects of this role are designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining our Mantis platforms.

Where one will be responsible for our cloud infrastructure and the services we deploy, ensuring that they are reliable, scalable and efficient.

At Mantis we have automation and observability tools to monitor the infrastructure, services and APIs, creating dashboards and alerts as needed to assess the health and identify issues.

It is naturally very important to respond to alerts and incidents to identify the causes, and create and implement plans to rectify in a timely manner.

Additional aspects of this role would be to manage the software release processes, ensuring that all deployed changes are documented, well tested and monitored to avoid or identify faults and regressions.

Naturally you will configure system scaling to ensure performance, availability and cost optimization, and will create and run load testing scenarios to better predict platform infrastructure requirements.

At times one will run ad hoc jobs (such as batch data processing) as needed by the Mantis team and customers.

Collaboration is very important with the development and product teams to design product infrastructure architectures.

Being up to date on best practices and trends in cloud service engineering and be a subject matter expert for the wider team.

Qualifications

We are looking for an engineer with experience in SRE or similar operations/sysadmin roles.

Your skills and experience will include

  • Managing complex cloud hosted services
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command line tools
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell and Python
  • Experience with build and deployment tools and CI/CD platforms
  • Use of AWS CDK, ideally with TypeScript
  • Expertise managing AWS cloud platform services, including serverless, stream and event processing, storage and databases
  • Understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.), CDNs, Load balancers and VPCs
  • A focus on security and managing roles and service permissions
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and orchestration tools
  • Expertise in monitoring and logging tools such as Cloudwatch
  • Familiarity with Automation Test frameworks
  • Ability to understand and debug application code, primarily in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
