SLC Technical Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an SLC Technical Consultant based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of hands-on technical consulting and large-scale analytics modernization, supporting enterprise clients as they transition away from legacy SAS environments toward a modern, flexible analytics platform. You will work directly with customer teams to analyze existing codebases, assess migration feasibility, and define clear technical pathways for modernization. The position blends deep SAS programming expertise with client-facing delivery, requiring both technical precision and strong communication skills. You will serve as a trusted advisor throughout migration projects, from discovery through execution and optimization. The environment is highly collaborative, involving close coordination with product, engineering, and customer stakeholders. This is a hands-on role with real impact on enterprise transformation initiatives across industries.

In this role, you will lead technical discovery and delivery efforts for enterprise clients modernizing their analytics environments. You will assess existing SAS ecosystems, evaluate migration feasibility, and define structured “routes to live” for complex transformation initiatives. You will also analyze, debug, and optimize legacy SAS codebases while supporting full migration execution and ensuring technical alignment with platform capabilities. In addition, you will act as a key technical liaison across customer and internal teams, ensuring smooth delivery and knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.

• Conduct discovery sessions to evaluate customer SAS environments and migration readiness
• Analyze and assess existing SAS programs, code structures, and dependencies
• Define migration strategies and “route to live” plans for unsupported or complex elements
• Support end-to-end migration delivery, including testing, validation, and optimization
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams on technical feasibility and solution design
• Deliver training and enablement for customer system administrators and migration teams
• Document technical findings, assumptions, and best practices for code transformation
• Participate in client stand-ups, reviews, and ongoing technical governance discussions

Requirements

This role requires strong hands-on SAS programming expertise combined with experience in large-scale analytics or data modernization projects. You should have a deep understanding of SAS architecture and tools, along with the ability to work through complex codebases and translate technical findings into actionable migration plans. Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and experience working in client-facing technical roles are essential. Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data tools is a plus, especially in environments involving enterprise-scale data processing and transformation.

• 7+ years of hands-on SAS programming experience (DATA step, DS2, PROC procedures)
• Strong expertise with SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Studio
• Solid understanding of SAS architecture, including SAS Grid environments
• Experience analyzing, debugging, and optimizing large SAS codebases
• Proficiency in SQL and data querying techniques
• Familiarity with data structures, analytics workflows, and performance tuning
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI is a plus
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Excellent communication, documentation, and client-facing consulting skills
• Familiarity with Linux, AIX, or other supported enterprise platforms is advantageous
• Exposure to Python, R, or containerization tools (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus
