Job Description

Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Development Manager, MCP/AI based in Canada.

This is a high-impact engineering leadership role focused on building the next generation of agentic AI capabilities within a 2D/3D visualization ecosystem used across design and engineering workflows. You will lead a newly formed team responsible for evolving a core viewer capability into a production-grade AI platform that enables users to interact with complex models through natural language and intelligent assistance. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, team building, and AI strategy in a greenfield environment where standards are still being defined. You will hire and grow a multidisciplinary team, including AI/ML talent, while shaping the technical direction of an emerging agentic platform. A key part of the role is establishing trust, safety, and evaluation frameworks for AI systems deployed at scale. This is a unique opportunity to define how agentic AI is embedded into high-performance visualization workflows used by designers, engineers, and creators worldwide.

Accountabilities:

  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing engineering team, including AI/ML talent, through hiring, coaching, and performance development.
  • Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for a next-generation agentic AI and MCP-based platform.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of Viewer MCP and AI-powered capabilities, ensuring predictable execution and high-quality releases.
  • Establish engineering and AI best practices, including CI/CD, testing, observability, and production reliability for AI systems.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks for AI quality, safety, latency, cost, and reliability, embedding them into delivery workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, UX, applied AI, and platform teams to build a shared agentic layer across visualization solutions.
  • Drive adoption of responsible AI practices, including human-in-the-loop design, traceability, and confidence scoring mechanisms.
  • Remove blockers, manage risks, and communicate progress, trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership.
  • Define structure and clarity in a greenfield environment where processes, standards, and systems are still evolving.
  • Ensure successful integration of AI capabilities into production-grade visualization workflows and services.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
    • Proven experience delivering complex, production-grade distributed systems or platform services.
    • Hands-on experience building or leading teams delivering AI/ML-powered products, including LLMs, agents, or recommendation systems.
    • Strong understanding of LLMs, agentic workflows, and AI system evaluation methodologies.
    • Solid background in cloud-native architectures, APIs, CI/CD, testing, and Agile development practices.
    • Experience defining engineering standards and scaling teams in ambiguous or greenfield environments.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Bonus: Experience with MCP architectures, agent orchestration frameworks, or composable AI systems.
    • Bonus: Exposure to data platforms, ML infrastructure, or visualization/graphics technologies (2D/3D, CAD, BIM).
    • Bonus: Experience collaborating with applied AI or research teams to bring models into production.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation including base salary, bonus, and equity opportunities (CAD 140,000–205,700 range, depending on experience)
      • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
      • Stock grants and performance-based incentive compensation
      • Remote and hybrid flexibility within Canada
      • Generous PTO, parental leave, and wellbeing support programs
      • Learning and development support, including tuition reimbursement
      • Opportunity to build and lead a new AI/agentic platform from the ground up
      • Work at the intersection of AI, 3D visualization, and large-scale engineering systems
      • Inclusive, innovation-driven culture focused on creativity and impact.
