- Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the stability compliance and continuous operation of COBOL-based applications that support client implementation and ongoing maintenance.
- Act as a trusted technical partner to internal stakeholders by troubleshooting complex system issues and guiding teams through process improvements and federally mandated changes.
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical solutions using COBOL.
- Develop modify and maintain COBOL programs for batch and online processing.
- Perform debugging troubleshooting and resolving issues in existing COBOL applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts and QA testers to deliver reliable solutions.
- Document code changes and system processes for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and best practices for software development.
- Strong proficiency in COBOL programming including experience with mainframe systems (e.g. IBM z/OS).
- Familiarity with related technologies such as JCL CICS DB2 or VSAM.
- Experience with SAS NDM FILE-AID CompairX Datamover BlueZone
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience with modernization projects or migration from legacy systems.
- Knowledge of financial or insurance industry applications.
- Understanding of Agile or Waterfall development methodologies. General use of JIRA Confluence
