Software Engineering Manager - Data Management

From interoperability and standardization to explainability using data lineage. We are continuously applying industry best practices to empower data scientists and clinicians with secure access to reliable quality data.

This role will report directly to the VP of Engineering. Built on values of continuous learning, cross-functional collaboration, pride of ownership and accountability, our team is set out to create scalable, resilient, explainable VeraQ tools and services to empower clinicians and quantitative scientists to connect the dots across unfiltered healthcare data. VeraQ is clinician-directed and enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) to securely power a data integrity feedback loop of nearly a half-billion raw, point-of-care health encounters.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Verana Health is looking for an Engineering Manager with a background in data management.

Responsibilities:

• Data Management team's mission is to  centralize data management tools and services to empower scalable, self-serviceable discovery and observability.

• As a leader of the team, you will:
• define data strategy.
• set best practices.
• implement tools, services and integration.
• Collaborate with the users of the Data Management tools to understand requirements, and create a continuous feedback loop for improvements
• As a manager, you will:
• Recruit, develop and manage top engineering talent.
• Mentor and coach your team members to become the best version of themselves.
• Help your team understand product vision and keep them excited.

Basic Requirements:

• Athena, S3, Redshift, RDS (Mysql & Postgres).
• JIRA, Github.
• Architectural knowledge: Data Mesh, Microservices, Serverless.
• Clear communication skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• 2+ years of management experience.

Bonus

• Knowledge of healthcare industry data standards.
• Experience in building best practices in Data Stewardship, Data Governance. 
• Knowledge of Data Governance tools (s.a Alation).
• Technical: Airflow, AWS Glue, Lambda and step functions.
