The primary role of a Line of Business (LOB) Solution Architect Lead is to provide industry leading technical help, architect cost effective, and secure solutions to business problems. They are responsible for making sure the design follows OA principles, policies and standards that are in alignment with the IT strategy and roadmaps with a primary focus on business outcomes.

This role, Solution Architect Lead, is a contributing member of a combined account team consisting of a Business Relationship Manager, Business Analyst Lead, and Enterprise Architect. The Solution Architect provides guidance to our LOB colleagues to ensure business goals and objectives are met via technology solutions. This role will be primary accountability for ensuring the conformance to OneAmerica standards and policies and developing the business solution including Solution Design and Resource Forecast for all technology efforts. Industry and previous solution delivery and solution experience to provide input into high level estimates, skills needed, risks and contingency plan are key to success in this role.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Advises, consults, leads, guides and mentors' fellow solution architects to ensure our solution for a LOB are designed and implemented to Industry and OneAmerica standards.
• Serves as the LOB SME for the Solution Architecture group for all solutions in that business domain ensuring data, API, and reusable solutions are established and promoted for consumption by our delivery teams to drive environment simplification and consistency.
• Conducts business process gap assessment exercises in concert with other teams.
• Brings visibility to and escalates business capability gaps, as well as, technical, execution, deployment or other risks as applicable.
• LOB SME during Proof of Concept/Value Exit Read outs by communicating results and recommendations to stakeholders
• LOB SME during post-mortem reviews of projects / products to measure design versus implementation differentials
• Accountable for developing project solution designs leveraging reference architectures and design building blocks to meet business and technical requirements. If reference architecture is not in place then this role is responsible to leading efforts to create it in partnership with Enterprise Architecture and other OA roles.
• Accountable to facilitate technical analysis, comprehensive solution design, and technology domain sessions to drive optimum IT solutions.
• Leverage other IT specialists as required to support solution shaping and resolving impediments. This includes potential engagement with enterprise architects, project managers, support teams and IT Leadership.
• Establish deep and empathetic relationships with the business and peers across IT to effectively promote solution development.
• Maintains awareness of IT strategic direction, Enterprise Architecture strategies, emerging technologies, software trends, and tools.
• Work with the delivery and support teams to incorporate process improvements, efficiency gains and tech debt elimination into the solution design.
• Partners with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security teams to facilitate and support execution of pilot and or proof of concept activities to validate technology capabilities.
• Tracks and manages component interdependencies.
• Assess and evaluate project risks during planning and provide risk mitigation recommendations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with ability to quickly understand and assess complex models and business processes when designing solutions.
• Demonstrate strong business minded consultative approach with focus on developing customer-centric solutions.
• Comfortable working with incomplete information and seeks to explore, analyze and collect information to increase understanding of a topic or issue.
• Ability to apply strategic thinking, engineering mindset and industry standard approaches when designing solutions.
• Ability to represent information following a defined design standard, using a combination of graphical and textual elements.
• Ability to choose the appropriate type of model or architectural pattern to solve specific problems.
• Gain support for ideas and be able to drive consensus on technical challenges. Able to rally people/ teams to move towards a common goal.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner to technologist, leadership, and business partners.

Job Requirements

Required Education and/or Certifications

• Bachelors' degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• TOGAF certification

Recommended Education and/or Certifications

• Scaled Agile (SAFe) Certification and / or any project management certification is a plus
• ITIL Foundation Certification is a plus

Required Work Experience

• Prior experience working as a Solution Architect is a plus
• 10+ years of Industry technology or related experience with significant focus on solution architecture, design, engineering, and delivery
• Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

Salary Band: 07B

This selected candidate will be expected to work remote in Continental US.The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
