THE ROLE
As a member of the IT team, the Solutions Architect delivers transformational projects leveraging various automation tools, scripting, Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms, and existing Nordic systems while ensuring security compliance. This position works with the Director of IT Program Management and other business partners to formulate and execute the direction and vision for the IT team.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving the technology strategy, software solution architecture, and solution pattern development for large-scale projects
- Apply knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and understand how the solution architecture layers (Hardware, Operating System, Database, Network, Business Rules, User Interface, etc.) impact the solution design and user experience to deliver high-quality solutions to the business.
- Due to the speed of technology change and evolving business needs, this role will have to adapt to a high degree of change
- Create value-added solutions that fit a specific business area's needs and solution portfolio
- Lead discovery discussions with clients to determine use cases and develop solutions
- Apply in-depth knowledge of project methodology, maintenance requirements, and documentation standards in solution design
- Assist developers in applying established frameworks appropriately to solution development needs
- Understand and participate in the entire solution from ideation and visual design through the SDLC, lifecycle activities such as extending or updating a system, planning the retirement of a system
- Lead development teams in all phases of the SDLC in highly complex, strategic business projects
- Work with Enterprise Architecture on solution option feasibility analysis to ensure departmental solutions align with enterprise architecture goals
- Develops and coordinates cloud architecture across diverse areas including, Enterprise IT, Product, DevOps, QA, Data, and Development teams to ensure that systems are architected according to best practices and provide remediation and guidance for change
- Responsible for understanding, researching, designing, and developing solutions, technical and reference architectures, and supporting strategies tailored to business needs
- Create technical documentation for developed solutions
- Deliver training to customers on new technology
Required Skills and Experience
- 15+ Years of Enterprise IT experience including demonstrated proficiency in the last 3 years in at least one of the following:
- IT/Business Processes
- Infrastructure/Technical Architecture
- Business System Applications Architecture
- Business Intelligence Architecture
- Advanced Analytics Architecture (AI/ML)
- 15+ Years of experience in enterprise IT Infrastructure (AD, Group Policies, DNS, Networking, Windows, Storage, etc)
- 5+ Years of Enterprise IT project leadership (e.g. Technical Team Lead) experience in large-scale, complex, high-risk, high-visibility Enterprise IT projects
- 5+ Years of experience in Architecting solutions on major public cloud platforms (AWS, or Azure)
- 5+ Years of experience working on Enterprise-wide Data Management projects like Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Datamart, Cube builds, Business Intelligence solutions, Data Governance strategies, etc.
- Demonstrated superior knowledge in industry-standard business and technology process best practices, tools, and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team in the application of a new structured development process through all phases: (concept, execution,n and implementation) at a departmental and project level
- Able to integrate the software development model with a given project management methodology such as Agile waterfall or hybrid, to influence the velocity and quality of the end product
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims
Preferred Skills and Experiences
- Industry certifications like TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, and Azure Solution Architect Expert are a plus
- 5+ Years of experience with Azure or AWS in an Enterprise Setting
- Hands-on experience in configuring and administering services in the cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Healthcare domain experience is a plus
Additional Details
- Travel up to 30% of the time
- Occasional off-hours support as needed
