Solutions Architect, Renewals

About the role

Your role as an SA is to help current customers gain the most value from their dbt Cloud deployment, leading to renewals and expansions. To achieve this, you will monitor an existing book of business, create 1:many communications to keep in touch with customers, lead technical discussions with customers, uncover new data challenges, and showcase how dbt Cloud can address their needs through live demos and technical workshops.

Internally, you will help our team as we continue to build out our processes and playbooks and act as the voice of the customer to ensure that we continue to build product that solves real problems and delights our customers. You will be the first Renewals SA, so will be building out what this role looks like and implementing the processes and playbooks needed to be successful

In this role, you can expect to:

• Consult with customers to understand their data challenges and identify opportunities for dbt Cloud to alleviate their pain and help them achieve their goals to support expansion and renewals
• Act as the ongoing technical QB for your accounts to ensure they are successful in their journey to utilize dbt Cloud. This means providing technical expertise, but also managing the cross-functional technical resources needed to ensure success of our customers and ensuring customers are using all of the resources appropriate
• Collaborate closely with your Account Managers, building strong trust-based relationships and providing strategic input on the customer lifecycle and renewals processes
• Maintain ongoing relationships with technical contacts in your accounts
• Identify opportunities for expansion in larger accounts and flag risks in accounts that may churn or contract
• Work with the team to improve the way we work together, be the voice of the customer in product discussions, and participate in other cross-functional activities
• Participate in the knowledge loop helping to improve our processes and assets and enabling others on the team
• Create and deliver external facing content through live events, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other content

You are a good fit if you have:

• 2+ years of sales engineering, solutions architecture, or as a data practitioner; prior dbt experience will be very helpful in this role
• A solid technical background, with a firm understanding of modern data warehousing architectures, the modern data stack, and SQL proficient
• High degree of comfort presenting to various stakeholders or audience, ideally with experience in an externally facing role
• Ability to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment and think on your feet when engaged in customer conversations
• Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team
• Desire to be part of a team, both as an active member of the SA team as we continue to evolve and improve how we work, and in your day-to-day work with Account Managers as part of an account team
• Openness to travel. While we work in a remote first company, we value the power of in-person relationship building, both internally and externally, so a willingness to travel to external and internal events is required.

You'll have an edge if you have:

• Bonus points for dbt certification
• Basic python competency and advanced SQL knowledge
• Proven experience in a post-sales, CSE, or other related tech role

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $133,000-195,000 OTE
