Special Projects Editor, Commerce

Forbes Vetted is seeking an experienced editor to own special projects for our growing commerce editorial team. 

This role will be responsible for overseeing large-scale editorial projects and initiatives for Forbes Vetted, including soon-to-launch verticals, gift guides and assorted top priority assignments across sections. You will work closely with the content strategy team to optimize content as well as the reviews editor to assign hands-on tested product reviews, and will be tasked with recruiting and onboarding freelance talent to help carry out this work. The special projects editor reports to the Forbes Vetted executive managing editor. 

This is a remote role with an option to commute to the Jersey City Forbes office if desired

Responsibilities:

• Having full ownership of the gift guide category, including strategic planning, story calendarizing and success tracking for this initiative
• Collaborating across teams to project manage and execute large-scale editorial packages
• Assigning and editing assorted top priority content across sections
• Working with Forbes Vetted leadership and strategy teams to launch new strategic content categories and verticals, then fully shepherding and overseeing content therein (which may include hiring freelance or staff editors)
• Assisting with the planning and execution of tentpole event coverage, which may include potential shifts over holiday weekends like Memorial Day, Labor Day and Black Friday through Cyber Monday
• Writing and updating content occasionally, as needs arise and time allows
• Assisting with social content creation for your section
• Tracking content performance against team and individual goals

The ideal candidate: 

• Is an expert in all things shopping and commerce content, with 5-7+ years of experience covering consumer products
• Is an excellent collaborator with a proven track record of success working across teams
• Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills, as well as a network of PR contacts and experienced writers in Vetted coverage categories
• Has direct prior experience planning and launching complex projects such as big packages and/or new verticals
• Has a strong understanding SEO as well as affiliate/commerce content strategy 
• Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business 
• Is eager to innovate and experiment editorially to help grow the Forbes Vetted audience
