You will join a high-impact professional services environment where data architecture plays a central role in enabling enterprise-scale digital transformation. In this role, you will design and lead the implementation of modern cloud-based data platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft Fabric and the broader Azure ecosystem. You will act as a technical authority, guiding engineering teams while translating complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions. Operating in a client-facing consulting context, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, product owners, and engineers to ensure successful delivery outcomes. The role blends deep hands-on technical execution with strategic architectural leadership. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping shape data strategy, governance, and platform evolution. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-visibility projects that directly influence enterprise data maturity and decision-making capabilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and delivery of cloud-based data platforms, with a focus on Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
  • Design scalable solutions across Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Intelligence, and data engineering pipelines.
  • Provide technical leadership to data engineering teams, guiding implementation, priorities, and best practices throughout project execution.
  • Facilitate technical discovery sessions, whiteboarding workshops, and architecture design discussions with clients and internal teams.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical roadmaps, architecture artifacts, and implementation plans.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring transparency and alignment with stakeholders as projects evolve.
  • Oversee data governance, lineage, quality, and security frameworks using tools such as Microsoft Purview.
  • Ensure delivery excellence by enforcing CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code practices across data solutions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor, ensuring expectations are aligned and deliverables meet business outcomes.
  • Requirements:

    • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or solutions architecture roles with strong hands-on engineering delivery experience.
    • Deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks, and OneLake.
    • Strong proficiency across the Azure data ecosystem, including ADF, Synapse, Databricks, ADLS Gen2, and Azure SQL.
    • Advanced programming skills in Python and/or PySpark, along with strong SQL capabilities for analytics workloads.
    • Experience implementing data governance and cataloguing solutions using Microsoft Purview.
    • Strong knowledge of data engineering patterns, including ETL/ELT, batch processing, and real-time streaming architectures.
    • Experience designing and operating data platforms such as data lakes, warehouses, and unified analytics systems.
    • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, as well as modern cloud-native data technologies.
    • Strong understanding of data governance concepts such as lineage, security, compliance, anonymization, and lifecycle management.
    • Excellent communication and consulting skills, with proven experience in client-facing technical delivery environments.
    • Ability to mentor engineers, produce technical documentation, and influence architectural decisions.
    • Experience working within regulated environments (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, PIPEDA) is an asset.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary range: $170,000 – $180,000 CAD per year.
      • RRSP retirement savings matching program.
      • Remote-first work environment with flexible hours and location.
      • Paid parental leave options.
      • Employer-paid health and dental coverage.
      • Mental health and counseling support through GreenShield+.
      • Annual $500 health care spending account.
      • Training and certification reimbursement (Udemy, Coursera, A Cloud Guru, etc.).
      • Employee recognition programs and peer rewards.
      • Inclusive, diverse, and supportive work culture focused on belonging and professional growth.
