The Enablement Products Engineering Team in CAS is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for our Cabin Connectivity organization. In this role, the Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for working on integrated product teams to develop new, advanced Connected Aviation products while also supporting existing products in production. The Senior Engineering Manager will be a strong, passionate leader with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset, who operates with a vision, delivers benefits to meet/exceed expectations, builds and enhances her/his teammates, evaluates and takes action on the performance of self and others, proactively plans for teammates' and customers' needs, all while operating with full integrity.

The Cabin Connectivity team is responsible for products that enable passenger connectivity in the commercial and business aviation markets over a variety of long-range media. The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of systems engineers, software developer and testers, who are focused on developing in-house software and integrating with other Collins products to create a seamless end-to-end passenger experience. Delivering high-quality products and services is at the core of how the team operates, with CD/CI and test automation playing a major role. Typical technologies used are Node and Python, with extensive use of AWS.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership for a group of software and systems engineers to ensure commitments are met
  • Lead the team and maintain alignment of priorities with value stream leaders
  • Lead change initiatives; identify and implement creative, compliant ways to balance the cost of change with engineering value
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand program needs & challenges; lead the team to generate and execute plans which deploy appropriate solutions
  • Lead and execute the department's bid and pursuit efforts
  • Work in a dynamic environment, where juggling current commitments and generating innovative plans for the future are the norm

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams within the Agile methodology
  • Experience with embedded platform architectures and systems development
  • Strong written & oral communicator and change agent; able to interface with the spectrum of individual contributors to executive leadership
