Accountabilities:

  • Lead and grow high-performing distributed software engineering teams focused on delivering scalable genomics analysis solutions across multiple product lines.
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture, software design, implementation, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications supporting high-volume clinical and research operations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, project managers, and technical stakeholders to define requirements, estimate development efforts, allocate resources, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Drive engineering excellence by implementing best practices related to software development, quality assurance, scalability, security, compliance, and performance optimization.
  • Oversee release planning, deployment coordination, and lifecycle management for critical software applications and platforms.
  • Partner with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet operational, regulatory, and business requirements.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives focused on increasing efficiency, innovation, collaboration, and product quality.
  • Mentor and develop engineering team members through coaching, feedback, career development support, and performance management.
  • Facilitate effective communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders while proactively identifying and resolving project risks and operational challenges.
  • Contribute to audit readiness and compliance initiatives involving healthcare, laboratory, and data security standards.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and building high-performing engineering teams in complex technical environments.
    • At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience using Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
    • Strong expertise in designing and developing scalable distributed systems and enterprise software applications.
    • Proven experience building genomics tertiary analysis software for clinical or research applications.
    • Experience working within regulated environments and familiarity with compliance standards related to healthcare, laboratory, or data security operations.
    • Strong technical background in software architecture, coding practices, system design, and cloud-based or distributed application development.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience managing remote or geographically distributed teams.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, product, and business teams.
    • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and proactive decision-making skills.
    • Passion for mentorship, team development, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
    • Experience with genomics secondary analysis solutions, AI-driven engineering practices, or advanced automation technologies is considered a plus.
