This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Virtual Machine Engineer based in the United States.

This is a senior infrastructure engineering opportunity for an experienced virtualization specialist to support large-scale technology modernization initiatives in a mission-driven environment.
The role focuses on designing, managing, and optimizing enterprise systems across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
You will provide technical leadership across virtualization, operating systems, security platforms, and core infrastructure services.
The position offers the opportunity to contribute to critical public-sector technology programs while working with advanced enterprise solutions.
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Accountabilities:

The Virtual Machine Engineer will provide senior-level engineering and architecture expertise to support enterprise virtualization, infrastructure modernization, and secure systems operations across complex technology environments.

  • Design, engineer, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions across VMware, Windows, Linux, storage, networking, and related platforms.
  • Administer and optimize VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, Aria, Horizon, and Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
  • Perform infrastructure monitoring, patch management, backup and recovery operations, and performance optimization.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization efforts and support cloud readiness initiatives across hybrid environments.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Manage privileged access management solutions, including CyberArk administration and configuration.
  • Engineer and support Active Directory services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and enterprise identity infrastructure.
  • Manage public key infrastructure (PKI), certificate lifecycle processes, and related security services.
  • Support security hardening initiatives and ensure compliance with DISA STIG requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and secure technology solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance, architecture recommendations, and troubleshooting support for complex enterprise systems.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is an experienced systems engineer with deep expertise in virtualization, enterprise infrastructure, security, and regulated technology environments.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
    • 7+ years of enterprise systems engineering experience.
    • Strong expertise with VMware, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Azure, Active Directory, CyberArk, and NetApp technologies.
    • Hands-on experience managing virtualization platforms, infrastructure services, and enterprise operating systems.
    • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
    • Experience supporting regulated environments, particularly Federal government or similarly controlled environments.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
    • Strong understanding of infrastructure security, compliance, and systems hardening practices.
    • Experience with VMware VCSA, datastore management, backup and recovery solutions, DISA STIG compliance, WSUS, SCCM, or MECM is preferred.
    • Experience supporting healthcare-related Federal programs or civilian government environments is a plus.
    • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
