PayPal Developer Platform & Experiences org is hiring a senior product leader who can transform the internal developer services ecosystem. Similar to any other cloud service provider, PayPal provides a variety of products and services to its developer community. This visionary product leader will be responsible for the central platform through which all internal service providers make their applications available. This person must have a proven track record of thinking systemically and truly understand what it means to manage a platform that produces a superior user experience based on the collective contributions of many service providers. Besides excellent product management execution skills and experience, this person must have a deep understanding and passion for what is important for developers to do their jobs free of friction and unnecessary overhead. They must also be tireless advocates and community builders of both the supply and demand sides of the network ecosystem.

This is a Technical Product Manager position within the Developer Tools team to spearhead adoption of tools and practices helping PayPal developers be as productive as possible. The Developer Tools group provides services that enable over 5,000 PayPal developers to do their jobs effectively every day. It includes everything from source code management and Agile execution to collaboration and productivity tools.

As a Technical Product Manager for Developer Tools, you will be in a unique position to transform developer experience in Source Code Management and related capabilities, enabling developers to create and release high quality products faster. You must have a deep understanding and passion for what is important for developers to do their jobs free of friction and unnecessary overhead.

Job Description

  • Develop a deep emotional and technical understanding of the pains and challenges in the developer community and be their number one champion in driving continuous improvements
  • Establish and evangelize the technical and business vision for developer experience at PayPal with respect to improvements in developer productivity, software quality and operational efficiency. 
  • Drive product strategy and creating best-in-class capabilities, including Source Code Management, and related processes
  • Evaluate the current SDLC processes and practices for improvement opportunities and define forward-looking business processes to support corporate objectives while providing frictionless experience to PayPal developers
  • Nurture a highly engaged developer community and incorporate developers’ feedback in the product roadmap
  • Drive customer adoption of innovative practices and approaches within the extended PayPal organization. 
  • Work cross-functionally (with global BUs, engineering, and design) and developing strong relationships that help build trust with key partner teams. 
  • Evangelize product roadmap internally and externally in informal and formal settings. 
  • Run lean experiments to identify future investment areas. 
  • Analyze the current marketing landscape and handle vendor relationships

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in large scale technical business analysis and project management. 
  • Hands-on experience and deep understanding of Source Code Management practices
  • Personal experience as a developer, including a well-informed opinion of the developer mindset and what’s most important to their success.
  • Experience with SAAS solutions implementation and management. 
  • Proven experience in a dynamic product management role overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle
  • Ability to think and communicate at multiple levels, from conceptual product architecture to minute implementation details at the same time.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills
  • BS/BA in Business, Business Information Systems, Computer Science or similar.
