What We’re Looking For

Vacasa is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for various accounting functions, including leases, prepaid assets, and accruals. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. This role will focus primarily on the central corporate accounting function, including, but not limited to prepaid assets, accruals, and lease accounting. 

What You'll Do:

  • Oversight of lease accounting and Visual Lease accounting software, prepaid expenses, and monthly accruals.  
  • Prepare and review journal entries associated with month end and inter month accounting activity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support the accrual process using the Coupa PO Software, conducting research within the system to ensure accurate and timely recognition of expenses and liabilities.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for areas of responsibility, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AP, procurement, and operations, to gather necessary information and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, providing accurate and timely financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support quarter-end and year-end financial statement audit activities including preparation of PBCs to be supplied to the audit team.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations and standards related to leases, prepaid assets, and accruals, and proactively implement necessary changes to accounting processes and policies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the accounting function.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in lease accounting, prepaid assets, and accruals.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and lease accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842).
  • Familiarity with the Coupa PO Software and the ability to perform research and navigate the system effectively.
  • Experience with Netsuite and FloQast or similar accounting systems.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

You’ll be working in your home office setting. We hold virtual training sessions and weekly team meeting. Occasional offsite team meetings in your region or our HQ locations. Requires frequent, repetitive use of a computer, phone, and office equipment. Requires patient, professional communication with prospective clients, and the ability to build confidence with prospects.

Compensation

  • $65000 - $80000 / year
