Sr. Actuarial Technician

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing expert product advice/support in the process of executing new products or any enhancements to existing products. This position is also responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of life and annuity products, business platforms, and providing ongoing support of retail projects and initiatives. Responsibilities are inclusive of product training, development of product supporting checking tools and administrative system verification to ensure product integrity is achieved.

This position will be part of the Retail Operations Distribution Implementation Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that new products or enhancements have accurate supporting tools in order to implement on illustration systems and product aggregators properly and the product or enhancements are sufficiently tested on these platforms.
• Develop checking tools & calculators used to support product/riders
• Develop Illustrations Specs from a range of data sources (i.e. contracts, pricing documents, broader company specs)
• Constant collaboration with business partners to stay on top of changes in requirements
• Develop and/or Advise on plan setup and test plans
• Routinely leads the testing efforts for the product and product features
• Validation of test results and error resolution
• Trouble shooting production incidents and determining the appropriate fix
• Assist Operations teams by researching and providing answers for policyholder questions/concerns
• Perform research and analysis to support inforce illustration work
• Develop test plans and test cases
• Conduct peer reviews of product/feature checking tools

Experience and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required – Preferred in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related technical field
• Life insurance and annuity product knowledge is required with preference for Indexed UL and Fixed Indexed Annuity experience
• Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills.
• 5+ years experience in the financial services industry
• Able to perform in a fast-paced production environment with minimal direction while addressing multiple projects and responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• • Familiarity with Insurance Illustration systems
  • Extensive experience with Life and Annuity Illustration software
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and Visual Basic for Applications
  • Experience working directly with third party vendor programmers and actuaries to correctly implement and test products
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, organized, analytical, and be able handle multiple projects with minimal oversight
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and to influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization in both technical and business areas successfully
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Typical professional office environment with periods of extended sitting required
  • Occasional travel may be required
